How did it get past security? Just by walking in.

You mean the crack security at bag check missed it? Color me shocked.

If they DO discover a selfie stick, what are they actually supposed to do, officially? They couldn't very well confiscate it, could they? Hold it for later? (Pick up at Lost and Found?) Just tell someone "You can't use this inside?"

Seriously - I wonder what the official policy is if one IS discovered at bag check.

I want to know how badly the other riders beat the crap out of the selfie-stick person for ruining the ride. That's NOT a short line by any means.

The selfie thing drives me crazy. The last time we were at DL the lines at security were super long all day. I went up to investigate and it was mostly being held up by selfie sticks! And instead of confiscating them and donating them to charity (can't you read the signs!?!) they were tagging each and every one so they could be picked up at the end of the day. Even so I saw a couple of them in the Park.
(When my daughter tried to get through with a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter they told her she had to 1. eat it all before going in 2. throw it away or 3. pay $16 for an outside locker.) They chose 3 which made for some pretty expensive PB&J's!!
Keep stopping those rides Disneyland and maybe those self entitled ego maniacs will get the idea.

I didn't know Disney cared any more that you brought in your own food. Ever since they started the bag check, they've been much more lax on that. But I guess because it was a full loaf and jar.

On our last visit, we bought something at Ridemakerz and wanted to take it back to the Toy Story parking lot. Because Ridemakerz cars aren't permitted inside the park, we had to wait for someone from security to escort us from the security spot on one side of the esplanade to the other. That was unexpected.

    Doobie.

What I have been told, and what I do, is that it is okay to bring in prepared sandwiches. I told my daughter to make them ahead but she didn't. They are very subjective at security. They might have gotten into a different line and gotten through. I once took in a whole loaf of French bread to make sandwiches from a turkey leg and got through okay. Another time I got questioned over a small wooden train whistle. They did let me take it in but I found out metal whistles are forbidden. (And for good reason, wouldn't want one blown in my ear on a ride.)

A pleasant experience I had was when my stroller was stolen. They gave me a rental stroller for free but at the end of the day I could not take it out of the Park because it was after closing. My granddaughter was asleep in it and I had had such a day I almost burst into tears. The CM on duty called a security guard to escort me all the way to the tram. I was very grateful.

That's odd. I was at WDW last summer and I saw people bringing coolers in (the kind that have wheels). I was very surprised when I saw that. I had a camelback, and no one checked that I only had water in it.

My mom had a little can of pepper spray attached to her key chain. We were at the parks for a week and no one questioned it. On the last day of our stay, it got confiscated at bag check outside MK. The security guard said it could accidentally go off in the middle of the park, so that's why he had to take it.

Speaking of stupid things to bring on that ride, I once had beer spilled on me by another rider 5 or so rows ahead of me. I didn't even get hit until the upside down part and then a few splashes after that. When I got off the ride I waited to see who it was and the women was plastered and still had the plastic neon green up in her hand, empty of course. I had to go by a new sweater because I kept smelling beer all day and I hated beer at the time.

Another time I saw a women exiting the ride with her Chihuahua in her half zipped up jacket.

Noticed I said at the time :). Now I love some beers but I am definitely a beer snob. I mainly drink craft beers. My neighborhood had a brewing competition and I made my own beer that ended up winning first place.

God people are dumb. They are too stupid and selfish to obey simple rules, and they end up ruining the experience for everyone else.

Good for you! I've never made beer, but one of my good friends got into it, and when I visited him, he asked me if I wanted to try some of his beer. I was hesitant, but polite, and tried some. And it was really excellent!

Brooklyn has become such a hipster haven that I got kinda ticked off at craft beers for a while, as they were everywhere, with all kinds of pretentious descriptions and marketing... I became almost a "reverse beer snob." Until the hipsters decided to get into things like Pabst, congratulating themselves that they were "drinking it ironically." So now I can drink craft beers again... sorta...

    I get confused.
