    Could you elaborate?

I've ridden Pirates in TDL, DL, and WDW (I'm told the TDL version is similar to the DL version), so it's hard for me to picture what you're explaining here.

    Town first, skeletons after?

  3. Pirates in Disneyland Paris, like pretty much everything there, is superior to the DL version in my opinion.

Tony Baxter talked about POTC and DLP in general in one of the Season Pass podcasts.

Here's a description about the ride:

I still can't wait to visit the original Disneyland :)

The link dagobert posted gives more info, but essentially yes, we have the town first. The ride starts and stays in the same time period and the skeletons serve to remind us that while a pirate's life looks fun it's unlikely to end well. It's a much more cohesive story in my opinion.

Really? I'm an American and found the DLP version to be quite superior. And DL's POTC might be my favorite DL attraction. I grew up with it and have been on it maybe a hundred times or more. Shanghai's looks like it might beat DLP's though.

I'm just repeating what Tony Baxter said on the podcast. I guess disappointed is the wrong word. I guess it depends with which storyline people are more familiar with. I prefer DLP's POTC over WDW's, because I know the European ride better. Americans might feel the other way round.

My thoughts exactly! The Shanghai experience has its own uniqueness and it takes you into the movie. Interesting. But, for me, I will ride the original DL POTC until my boat is covered with barnacles. When they added Depp to the ride, I didn't mind the inclusion--it makes sense. However, having him appear throughout the ride is distracting. And, I'm still not happy being sent out of the ride to the sound of Depp's voice.

    I grew up on DL's POTC so I'm sure that's a thing.

I remember my first time on WDW's POTC and being very disappointed. Seemed like the Cliff Notes version.

DL's Pirates is still the best one just like DL's Haunted Mansion is superior to all others. Sure other places has variations on the theme but you can't beat the original.

You left out "except the DLP versions of these rides".

I don't agree - I think DLPs Phantom Manor is more gross than scary and not as well produced as DL's

  15. Isn't WDW's version pretty comparable too? I don't think I've ever ridden it, but I've heard others who have say it's good.

That's because European's don't like "funny scary". We like it either funny or scary. And I will wait with my justice until I've done DL's POTC and PM/HM, but I'm pretty sure, we got the best :);):D

WDW's PM/HM is pretty good, there are some cool effects, like the foot steps, but POTC is a little bit disappointing compared to DLP's version.

  19. Not surprised. I'm sure they're doing most if not all of Disney's cinematic FX these days.

I'm a little surprised to hear PM described as gross rather than scary. Which parts are you referring to?
