I don't know if these three water bodies have any features, but I don't think so.


I'm still disappointed that SDL doesn't have a railroad. A Disney park needs a railraod and I think it would have looked great if the train would have been elevated and running through Disneytown.

That's a great photo. With the time of day and the angle, it really reminds me of Peter Ellenshaw's blacklight concept painting of DL from before it opened:




It's also interesting that there's still some construction equipment hiding in the backstage area on the right side of the photo. I guess they're continuing to work on things in between the preview days

 

I'm sure there's still a lot to do, even after the opening.

The Disney Coat of Arms got a very prominent spot on the castle. At DLP it takes some time to find it.

 

This is cool.

 

The headboards at Anaheim's DLH have a similar effect.

 

Well, yeah. Like RnRC.

Fast rides are fast.

Duh.

 

Thing is though, you don't take out the "slow rolling" parts. The ride is as long as it is, from sit down to stand up. That has always been the case, so you're kind of missing the point here. (that plus fast rides are fast)

 

I didn't know that. So maybe all other DL hotels might get these headboards too.

That's probably the case. But, then, "fast rides are fast" is not a helpful observation. Consider:

Space Mountain (DLR) from dispatch to exit: 3:00
Big Thunder (DLR): 3:10
Matterhorn Bobsleds: 2:45
Space (WDW): 3:00
Big Thunder (WDW): 3:10
Screamin': 2:20
Expedition Everest: 3:15

(And when people think of these Attractions, they are included in the same category as Pirates, Mansion, Splash, Grizzly / Kali, Tower of Terror--all of which are much longer than 1:50.)

Shanghai's incredibly incredible amazingly amazing earth shattering signature TRON fantasticness appears to clock in at 1:50, of which about 40% is ambling to and from the station. Goofy's Sky School is a great match, time-wise.

Fast rides don't have to be extremely short. Should Rockin' Roller Coaster's short time have become the norm for Disney? Would Everest be as popular if 1:25 were shaved off its running length?

It is perfectly rational to comment with disappointment on the exceptionally sad running time of Shangai's new TRON Attraction.

I'm surprised we haven't seen anything from the Toy Story Hotel yet. I guess it must be on a slower schedule

 

Many great pictures. Thanks for the link. I really like the look and the design of the hotel. It's something new and fresh. Disney already did so many Victorian themed Disneyland hotel so that I applaud the decision to do something new,

Normally it wouldn't be much of an issue of an eccentric billionaire decided to attack another company, but given the political realities of China it's an interesting situation. There's no way that Wang accrued that much money without being in favor with the central government. Given that the Party owns the majority share of Shanghai Disneyland, it sort of makes you wonder.

Shady back room deals are nothing new in China, and it's been long reported that Disney's contract wasn't nearly as strong as they had initially hoped (and the reason that Eisner pulled out of it when he was in charge). Perhaps this is a first step toward the Party pushing Disney out of the nice little park that they just built for them

 

If the government kicked Disney out of Shanghai Disneyland I'm sure It's a Small World will end up looking like this:

 

The regular Small World makes my skin crawl, but this just gives me the heebie jeebies!!

 

I especially like the part with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Tutles and Voltron.

 

Apparently some of the Toy Story elements made their way into the park, and somehow were completely overlooked in construction photos. It sounds like this is near the transition from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland, and appears to be rather generic buildings with decorations applied, but it's still surprising that we haven't seen any of this before:

It also sure doesn't look like that $800M for capacity improvements, but I doubt we'll ever hear where that went...
