While I highly doubt that we will see a third Disney resort in the near future in China, there are already rumours out there. Chongqing to compete for the second Disneyland in mainland - People's Daily Online
I also doubt that we'll see a third location in China in the near future, but it could be on the table for many years from now. At the moment, their priorities should be getting Shanghai up and running, and filling in the gaps in that park I'm also not sure Chongquing is the best option. Although I'm not overly familiar with the city, it is more remote than Shanghai and doesn't have nearly the same level of nearby population. Considering that much of the Chinese population can't afford a visit to the Shanghai park, I'm not sure that opening a park in an area where the population is more rural and poor would help that
Do you think Disney has to drop prices for SDL? I read somewhere that people were complaining about the high prices for soft drinks. It is already the cheapest park to visit. I'm also wondering what Disney's plans are with HKDL. Currently they are building a new hotel, which looks cool by the way, and Iron Man, but has anything been announced beyond that?
I don't know about pricing. There's definitely demand for expensive products in China, but Disney parks have always been a decidedly middle class affair. Similar to the US, I can't see the wealthy elites going to the park often, and it seems like the prices are pretty steep for the Chinese middle class. I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly lowered food prices, but kept tickets the same since it would create a lot of publicity. Most things are cheaper in China, so I see no problem with having the Disney park there be the cheapest one (though TDR's parks are also much cheaper than their worldwide counterparts, despite the high quality) I'm also curious to see what happens to HKDL. It seems like all the focus has been on Shanghai for a while, but I assume things are going to pick up there at some point. I haven't been following it closely, but the Iron Man attraction feels like it has been taking forever, so I wonder if that was intentionally delayed to keep the focus on Shanghai
I would guess that we'll see a big announcement about Hong Kong during all the hoopla about the opening of Iron Man. I'm thinking another land with two rides, at least.
Except for POTC, HKDL isn't missing any classic Disney ride, or am I wrong on that? MM is their HM and the new Grizzly coaster is their BTMRR. Even with the great new one at SDL, HKDL should get that attraction, but I highly doubt that a Pirates land will be announced for HKDL. I can imagine that Fantasyland gets an expansion with TLM.
