Trump promised millions to charity. We found less than $10,000 over 7 years.

Not that this should shock anybody, but apparently the "millions and millions, you wouldn't believe how many millions" Trump claims to have given to charity over the years... not so much.

Plenty of detail in the article. One of my favorites:

"In the 1980s, Trump pledged to give away royalties from his first book to fight AIDS and multiple sclerosis. But he gave less to those causes than he did to his older daughter’s ballet school."

I've long thought this is one reason he refuses to release his taxes. I'm guessing he gives embarrassingly little to charity (according to the Post, this is particularly true in recent years), and considering how much he has SAID he has given, often to specific causes, if this is shown not to be true it's both an easy lie to understand and a hard one to weasel out of.

It may be related to another long-standing rumor about why he won't release his taxes: that he's not worth nearly as much as he brags he is.

And don't you love this "explanation:" "Trump won’t release his tax returns, which would confirm such gifts, and his staff won’t supply details. “There’s no way for you to know or understand,” Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks told BuzzFeed recently."

The only reason anyone running for President would refuse to release their taxes is simple: there is information or a lack thereof contained in the documents that flies in the face of a narrative being spun by the candidate.

In Trump's case, it probably has to do with not being worth as much as he claims.

Or it has to do with the lack of charity donations. Or lack of taxes paid. Or lack of income generated.

    All are realistic possibilities.

But I'm 1000% confident that this dirtbag isn't a billionaire. And his taxes would certainly prove it.

Wow, the GOP picked a real winner. The winningest winner. Believe me, it's unbelievable what a winner he is. This is the candidate they've been building up to for a generation. The best part about him losing in November, besides not destroying the country I mean, is that it will show future candidates that not releasing tax filings is simply not a viable or appropriate option.
