Walt Disney Animation Studios will be making a big announcement on Thursday June 30th 2016 at 9am pacific time, but what could Disney Animation’s big announcement it be? Lets take a look at some of the options.

The Disney Animation twitter account posted the following tweet today scheduling a big announcement for tomorrow, which they will broadcast on Facebook Live.

Disney's film slate is established for the next few years, but I think there are some placeholders for unannounced animated features. I suspect they'll probably release information on one (or more) of those

If they really wanted to rock the boat, they'd announce that WDAS and Pixar are merging into one, but that seems unlikely. That would be a big story, which they would be more likely to release on a Tuesday so it can dominate headlines for a few days, rather than a Thursday before a holiday weekend

My bet is a release date and/or other details on Frozen 2.

Honestly, I can't see Disney merging the two animation studios. Since 2007 they use every possibility to tell us that the culture on the two studios is so different. Pixar had ONE!! box office bomb since Toy Story and WDAS is doing so well right now. I just can't imagine Disney wants to change that. Additionally both studios work already under the Walt Disney Studios division.

I think they will annonunce some new movies or some new informations about already announced movies. Maybe I will tune in, since that would be 18:00 o'clock our time.

I agree that it seems highly unlikely, but WDAS films are feeling more and more like Pixar films, while the Pixar ones are start to shift in the WDAS direction. At some point they're going to meet in the middle and be indistinguishable, so why not just combine the two?

But I really don't think that's what the announcement will be. I just think it feels strange to put out a teaser like this for an announcement on upcoming films. Somehow this seems like it should be bigger than that

I also think that if Disney wants to merge the two studios, then the message for the live broadcast would have been "You are invited to hear breaking news from TWDC" and not "from WDAS". And I'm sure Disney would not announce such big news over a FB live broadcast.

In a few hours we know more. I still believe that they are going to announce upcoming projects and new informations about the next movies.

The big reveal was Wreck-It Ralph 2.

That's no surprise, and hopefully they can included Nintendo figures now.

DANG. That was my original guess in post 8. Decided to go with the Ice Age joke instead. Hoisted by my own Picard.

Coming this fall: Inferno -- starring Tom Hanks as Woody Langdon

Professor Langdon goes up against spineless entertainment moguls set to destroy the planet's creativity by unleashing a deadly plague of sequelus stucinruturus on the movie going public. Working with him in this epic battle is Buzz Fiscalyear, a hapless unemployed animatronics designer living in his ex-wife's basement.

    Rated PG (Profitus Gratuitous)

I enjoyed Wreck-it-Ralph when I saw it, but it didn't leave much of an impact on me. It's not a bad film, but it sure doesn't seem like it needs to be a franchise of its own. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm underwhelmed at best
