My dad is legally blind in one eye, so the 3D literally does nothing for him. Everything he sees, including in real life, is in 2D. For cases like his, the extra cost truly is a waste, but he will occasionally pay it if that's the more convenient showing or he's with other people who want to see it in 3D

I was looking around the toy section at Target ... I've been collecting Cars die cast for 10 years ... and saw Finding Dory toys.

 

STAY TO THE END OF THE CREDITS!!!!!11111!!!!!!!!

If you went to see it and did not stay to the end of the credits, then you have to go back and see it again.

 

It was so good!!!!!

 

The movie had a fantastic start with over 130 million US Dollars, making it the best start for an animated movie.

Unfortunately we have to wait until September to see it. I guess the reason for that is the UEFA Euro 2016 in France. On Austria's matchdays the largest cinema chain even closes some locations. July and August might already be too packed with blockbusters to release Finding Dory during these months.

 

What did you think of the rest of the movie, mawnck? It's getting good (if not rapturous) reviews; the trailer made it seem like a retread of Nemo, (with even the sea lion "Off! Off!" gag basically just a retread of the seagulls' "Mine! Mine!"), but some of the reviews make me think it may be worth going to see on the big screen.

 

I thought it was an "adequate" sequel. Better than Monsters University, but not by much.

Worth seeing if you enjoyed the original. If you did NOT see or enjoy the original, I recommend don't bother.

 

I really really liked it. It had it's really heartfelt moments, but overall it seemed more lighthearted and fast paced than Finding Nemo. I wouldn't say that one is better, because the two just seemed to have completely different tones (to me at least). I'd definitely recommend watching it, especially because the underwater graphics are drop dead gorgeous. And the short they played before it is incredibly adorable!

 

Saw it yesterday. Glad I did - I liked it considerably better than the Monsters sequel, though not as much as the original Nemo.

I thought it started slow and didn't really pick up till they got to Morro Bay. Once they got there, though, I really thought it was well done.

Personal plusses from me for Morro Bay (a particular high school trip comes to mind), and the use of the otters - how did they know know that otters are my favorite critter of all critters?

And yes the graphics were beautiful. Amazing what they can do these days. And the first moments of the Piper short with the waves and foam were almost photo-realistic.

Plus, now when I get hungry I think I'm just going to tilt my head back, look over at my husband, and open and close my mouth a few times...

After one month of playing in theaters, Finding Dory has surpassed the domestic mark for the highest grossing animated film in box office history. Beating out the likes of Frozen (5), Toy Story 3 (4), The Lion King (3), and Shrek 2 (2), the Finding Nemo sequel has grossed a whopping $445.5 million. The previous held record by Shrek 2 in 2004 was $441.2 million.

This landmark is even more significant for the film as animated children’s movies have dominated the box office so far this year. Finding Dory has also dominated the critically and audience acclaimed Zootopia (coming in at number 9) and the recent release The Secret Life of Pets, both of which have scored big at the box office themselves. Being the sequel of another beloved Pixar film undoubtedly helped the movie at the box office, especially since its predecessor was released in theaters all of 13 years ago. Finding Nemo comes in at 6 on the list, grossing $380.8 million during its successful tenure at the box office in 2003. Finding Dory will only go up from here as it continues to impress nationwide at box offices among the audience-grabbing summer releases.

Note that this is US/Canada only. It is still #15 worldwide, but it also hasn't opened in a lot of overseas markets yet.

Frozen is #1 worldwide, with around $1.3 billion. Finding Dory is currently at around $723 million.
