Although I would have liked to see a new trailer, I'm not surprised we didn't get one at SWCE. It's the same schedule like last year with TFA. In April 2015 we got the first TFA trailer at the Celebration and this year in April they dropped the first Rogue One trailer. Last year around this time there was Comic Con San Diego and they showed a TFA Behind The Scenes video. This year they showed the BTS video at SWCE. So the next trailer will come in October. The BTS video is great by the way.
Good things are apparently coming in threes for actor Alden Ehrenreich, who’s been tapped to play Han Solo in the upcoming “Star Wars” spin-off depicting the intergalactic scavenger’s early years. Disney has quietly signed the 26-year-old “Hail, Caesar!” star to a three-picture deal, insiders tell Confidenti@l, paving the way for more Han Solo flicks if the one currently being written strikes gold at the box office. I like the teasers for the trailer. They build up the anticipation and since it was announced beforehand that the real trailer will arrive tonight.
Official synopsis: From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
Rogue One, the first Star Wars standalone movie, will be whistling a new tune. Michael Giacchino, the composer behind such movies as the Star Trek reboot and Pixar movies ranging from The Incredibles to Inside Out, will score the upcoming movie, stepping in for Alexandre Desplat, who was originally slated to work on the movie. That's great, but unfortunately I'm going to miss it. 10:00am PST means 19:00 o'clock over here, but I have to attend a dinner.
