I've handled all 181 moderator reports and took care of some user complaints. We should be clean now.
You should have an edit option next to each thread. It gives you options to delete and lock. Individual posts can be deleted, warned and modified. There is a Reports item at the top of your screen. This is the user reports. You have options to delete, warn, modify. You should be able to edit everyone's posts too.
Zoinks! While you two are at it, since I'm the "special interest group" that got you both elected, I'd like to go over your debt to me in private. I'll meet you with a suitcase with unmarked bills. I'm assuming the Disney related smilies will be working shortly.
By der way, as an early riser I see a heckuva lot of spam in the morning when I first wake up. (Several are there now, but I gotta go to work, so can't report them all right now.) Whyfor doesn't the board have something in place that prevents the spambots from posting the stuff in the first place, or signing up for accounts, or something?
I'm an early West Coast riser - usually 6-6:30am, so can destroy spam then. Not sure how to prevent it though.
Most software uses a captcha test to get pass robots. This software version does not have it. I'll have to check into seeing if there is an add on module. I'm also up at the same time so if Jim doesn't hit them I will. It's going to get old really quick.
Jim, what do you think of the new process for new users? All new users must have their posts approved by moderators before being seen by everyone. This gives us a chance to delete them before everyone sees them. The Moderator alert will be at the top. It looks like they can't put a profile status update either.
Good work guys. On TheGoatSpot I had to have my posts cleared for like a week. We do not get much SPAM there.
I just cleared 12 of them today. Hopefully you didn't see them because I have to approve them before they show.
Just an update, we typically see between 10-15 spam threads created each day from brand new users. Everyday morning we delete them. Is there a way to make this place a little more secure like having someone manually approve new users before posting?
Thank you @phruby for keeping our site clear of spam. It isn't even half as bad as it was a year ago before you started helping clean things up.
Nice thing is Doobie added email verification to new users last week. Since then I haven't had to delete any marked spam. However, I'm dreading the reopening the Hall of Presidents and how many posts I'm going to have to delete there.
