Nice! I don't think I'll ever go up in there! But I am definitely glad I went to see it in person! Colorado is really nice! We're down south of Denver (in Castle Rock) and really, there isn't a spot here that isn't awesome! My wife's family is building a house up in Granby, which is near Grand Lake and it *is* beautiful up there!
Wow! It's great to hear some of the LP'er names of old, Lulu, Darkbeer, etc.. I only check in here a few times a year these days. I let my AP expire about three years ago, and my trips to the Park have been limited to the Candlelight weekend. I do remember the first LP get together. What fun that was! I still have a pin from that meet. And, only this morning I came across some LP pins from the 10th LP meet that were 'stuck' to some magnets that turned out to be silver and gold Club 33 magnets from some previous visit! I keep in touch with only a few of the members Retlawfan, Ursula, 999haunts, etc.
Thank you, iamsally. I miss all of the old LP group as well. We had a lot of great meets over the years. I think that they were usually over the July birthday celebrations, although I remember one in the spring(?). My next visit to DL will be for Candlelight weekend. Maybe, we can have a mini-meet then!
Hello All. I, too, have tried to drop in every now and then. Life has certainly kept things busy for me. Happy to say that I have continued to have a railroad mini-meet every year on Disneyland's Birthday. And, my plan is to continue the tradition whether other meets occur or not. (hopefully others WILL want to have/organize meets) So, stay tuned. 10am, July 17th, Main Street Station. See ya' real soon! -retlawfan
Checking in... Looks like there no longer is a separate LP Meets topic, but thinking about doing one on July 17, Disneyland's 61st Birthday. I'm still heartbroken there is no more Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show, so I'll try to come up with something. Sure would love to see more meets being scheduled...
I do wish the meets had not been combined with community. If there ever gets to be lots of them again it may be hard to keep track. If other plans work out like we have planned; we should be there this July.
aww I just popped on here for the same reason - to see if anyone from old times still posted. I have a few people on FB friends.
Hope everyone is well...hard to believe I 1st came to laughing place 16 years ago. Big part of the teenage years!
Jesus lord....how did I even remember my login. This was like one of the first websites I found when I bought my first computer lol...that's how long it's been. This place used to rock. Weird how it came to my mind to stop by today, only to find this thread. Im still going to DL several times per year. WE used to drive me batty. Anyway, later...
I just happened to be checking in today after a conversation on Facebook with Stephen Ysmael (fivebearrugs). I think it's been about a year and a half since I last checked in. Although, my profile indicates I am "another secret pal", I am in reality, Jazzcat.
I think along with Lulu, a lot of people were vilified. It's so easy to be critical when you are fairly anonymous behind a keyboard. I think Laughing Place ended up being like high school and resorted to many cliques and a popularity contest. It's sad, really. I know, for myself, that I was not liked by a lot of people and now I realize that's okay. Not everyone can like each other, but to be unkind to one another is another story. Just two years ago, C.J. and I had a 25th anniversary party and Rod and Ruthie (iamsally) and Brian and Kim (kala) all came from out of town to celebrate with us. They have become very dear friends to us!
Sorry to hear that happened to you and others, jazzcat. I've been hanging around here for a long time, and honestly, have always felt like an outsider. And yet here I am as a moderator. The inmates have taken over the asylum!!
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!! I love it. I too was lambasted by someone I actually thought was a friend. I just kept a stiff upper lip and kept posting and refused to be chased away from what is like a family to me. I really miss a lot of those folks.
In my effort to be more Christ-like, I would like all posters to take out their aggression towards each other out on me. I will be everyone's emotional container. Namaste, Crazycroc
Hard to get use to the new message boards! I hope all is well with all posters of old - and new as well! It would be great to see posters of days gone by posting updates here. My first Disney visit was in the early 1960's! I brought my kids when they were babies onwards. It's great to hear that Beth is introducing her kids to Disneyland! My "Kids" are in University now so days gone by... and Grandparent visits on the way! Crikey... I'm old now... Hoping to continue to see updates from posters of old... Best!
