I have friends who still work for Disney and they tell me theme park business is down. My reaction was 'what? Where can you fit any more people?'

But that's what I've heard. So bring back the So Cal APs.

    Ugh

My first PAP was in 2002 and, I do not remember the exact price, but I think it was only a little over $200. Methinks the price hikes do not reflect the rate of inflation.

That is why there are so many black-out days. Gotta fill those Parks in the off season. I was just there and it was very crowded; especially for early September after Labor Day.

Why should it? Why would it? The price reflects demand. Kind of how capitalism works.

Passes were greatly underpriced for years. Rising faster than inflation isn't a surprise.

They need more money for the expansions.

I usually take 3 Disney trip per year, but with the Canadian dollar being horrible this year I skipped Disney. I'm sure the Canadian tourist makes up such a tiny percentage it probably doesn't matter much.

Yeah, but it was a good run. There was one year that we figured our visits were only costing us about $7 a day.

And the equivalent of the old Premium Pass is just over $1000

Was discussing this with my coworkers over lunch (in the Denver area). The consensus was that people are crazy to pay that much. For the price of one of those premiums passes you can purchase R/T airfare to Europe (when it's on sale). I'm sad to say, that with all the price increases (tickets and APs) that Disneyland has bumped itself off the radar for us. I can think of better things to do with that kind of money, like go to Budapest or Prague.

I don't think a lot of people realize how affordable a trip to Europe really is in comparison to a lot of US destinations. Even without finding an overly great deal, a family could fly to Europe and cover hotel costs for a week for less than $1000 per person

And when you consider how much planning a Disney trip requires (especially WDW with all the pre-booked stuff), the level of research-type work really isn't all that different either

fkurucz, we went to Prague and Budapest in 2002, and it was one of my favorite trips. Really enjoyed both of them.

Haven't been to Prague yet, but I did get to Budapest this summer, and I loved it.
