I'm at Mickey and Friends parking structure looking at the construction of the Star Wars land. Two girls come up behind me and one says:

"What have they done to splash mountain?"

I inform them that what they see is the new Star Wars Land. As I'm saying this a young man, part of their party, walks up and hears this and response:

"Oh ya, Star Wars Land that's where all the superheroes are going to hang out."

I bit my tongue at that point.

    That's hilarious.

Somewhere, a Disneyland marketing executive is pounding his head on his desk.

I would probably have laughed too!

In a way though, it is kind of nice to see people at the parks who have no idea whats going, doesn't care much and just going to have a good time.

Off-topic, but still scary ... Imagine how many of the younger ones have never seen a Bugs Bunny cartoon!

Bugs Bunny cartoons are typically on the Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Bugs even had a new cartoon series.

Mickey on the other hand, you never see anymore on the Disney Channel.

I am sure that they know who Walt Disney is. He's the cartoon character with a statue in front of the castle. ;)

Well, this is one grandma who makes sure her children, and grandchildren are well versed in all such classics.
From the Marx Brothers to Popeye to Felix and of course every Disney film. (When my kids were young we had to take them to the theater to see Disney classics when they were rereleased every 7 years or so.
And no one was allowed to see "new" Star Wars movies without having first seen the "old" Star Wars movies.

Actually, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is on quite frequently. And there are some new animated shorts featuring Mickey, but drawn differently. So he's still around, but just in more modern versions.
