Yesterday we watched the first episode of Amazon's The Grand Tour. We liked it a lot, but it's basically TopGear with a new name, which is not bad, because TopGear was always fantastic. BBC's new TopGear hosts are terrible compared to Clarkson, Hammond and May and I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the new TopGear. However there are a few things that I might dislike. For me it looks lile they had to tone down the "language" to be more suitable for the American market. Now we even got the pixels and the beep when they say the F word. I really wish they would have stayed with a British TV channel where the inapropriate language doesn't matter that much. It was no problem at the BBC, but with an American studio there might be some. In my opinion the new show will be great, but not as great as the original TopGear. At least the three guys cash out! @u k fan how are the reactions in the United Kingdom?
To be honest, they've been mixed but generally positive. I don't know many people personally who've seen it. You never would have gotten away with the F word on the BBC in its old time slot so that's not that unusual and not really any different between the old and new shows. I actually don't mind Jeremy Clarkson, but sacking him from Top Gear was the only way forward after what he did. I haven't made any effort to watch The Grand Tour despite already having Amazon Prime TV because I was never a Top Gear fan in the first place.
After seeing all episodes released so far I have to say that The Grand Tour is a disappointment. It is still better thatn the new Top Geat, but much worse than the original Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond and May. It looks like that the show is very scripted and they try to be too funy. I really hope they rework the show for season 2.
