Have you considered what a Trump Administration press briefing would be like?

    No great loss, says me.

So you're comfortable with the press having no access to Trump's administration whatsoever?

I'm comfortable in believing that press briefings or no press briefings won't change that in the slightest.

Minor issue, in the grand scheme of things.

Press briefings are a left over from a less technological society. There is no reason for them except to give the press sound bites and make the press feel like insiders.

How then is the press supposed to ask questions of the administration?

Or is that an outmoded thing too? (I realize that's what *Trump* intends, but I had no idea other people thought that wasn't such a bad idea!)

Tweet... you'll get the same response. IT'S THEIR FAULT, IT'S A CONSPIRACY, IT'S A LIE, HILLARY HAS CONNECTIONS OR THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED. That last one you can believe, besides the press isn't what it once was anyway. Independent correspondents are going to be the watchdogs now, because that will be their claim to fame. Established corporate news people are corrupt and not worth the gun powder to blow them to hell. They are the 21st century used car salesman. Right along sided the Right wing politicians. My apologies to actual used car salesmen. I know that was an extreme insult. You guys are fine now and this grouping of illiterates have taken over that low place in life forms.

Not by me it didn't. I don't know of a single news organization that is trust worthy. They are all out for the big headline, lack of fact checking and so on. If they don't Mr. Trumped up accuses them of being biased against him. It's their own fault, if anyone of them over the past year had the backbone to call him out on his BS we wouldn't be in this mess at all. The man is a bully and the first group he went after was the press and they folded like a cheap tent. They were afraid to challenge him and his lying just got worse and worse. His side was delighted, but, the rest of us were unable to go anyplace that felt even a little reliable for real information. This wouldn't have happened with Walter Cronkite. He would have called his bull and people would have believed him because he earned that place of integrity. So what happens? Even if a new source is being honest and doing their homework no one believes any of it anymore. Now it appears we have both the CIA and the FBI agreeing that Putin had a hand in attempting to influence the election. Know what Mr. Orange Glow is going to say... the democrats have bribed, threatened or sweet talked those two organizations to say that. Wait, it will be said, if it hasn't already. And the uneducated masses will believe him. What a pile of crap this country has become.

Almost three million people went to the poles only to find out that this country that they loved so well will not acknowledge their votes because of a 150 year old system enacted to prevent slave states from having to much power. It is a system that is no longer needed and after this incredible turn of events it will be a chore to get anyone to the poles again. Hard to bring yourself to do that when you feel that it doesn't matter, government of the people doesn't exist. Government for loud mouthed bully billionaires is in full bloom. We don't have anyone with the power to help that have enough courage to do anything about it. Please tell me I'm wrong about that and why, because I really need to hear and latch on to some other belief, but, right now I just cannot. I fought for this country and I am now embarrassed to even admit that I am a citizen of this place. I'm embarrassed to say that I am an American. I never in my 68 years ever thought I would say anything like that, but, there it is. I didn't give 4 years of my life in defense of what we have today. I didn't do that to have a nation that no longer has Freedom of Speech, Freedom to worship in whatever way they feel is right, Freedom to live without fear of someone deciding that I don't think the way they do, so I should be eliminated from the process because of that or race or personal decision. That is not what we are supposed to be about. I hate it, hate it, hate it. I hate that I hate it because I have never hated my country. I hate that my father experienced WWII and myself to Vietnam only to be in a situation that looks a lot more like a dictatorship then a democracy. You talk about wanting to take our country back, we are the ones that want to take it back to the ideals that we once thought were important. Right now there are 3 million more of us then of the ones that want to take it back to the 1700's. I'm so tired of fake Christians, fake Patriots and fake Politicians. I have never been this vocal in any of a huge number of elections that I have been a participant. I never found the need to as I was never as scared about an outcome as I am right now. The rest of you can keep your head stuck in the sand until someone blows your butt off, but, I intend to watch carefully and actively work to get the people that are useless and getting paid big bucks in Washington out of the system as soon as possible. If that is two years from now... fine whatever it takes. They are destroying the American dream strictly for personal gain. They need to be denied that gain.

I did not serve but my sons did.
They are so disillusioned. They really thought they were fighting for Truth, Justice and The American Way.

    Good grief, you guys.

A few points, and yes, I'm YELLING:

YES, IT WOULD'VE HAPPENED WITH WALTER CRONKITE. It's happening with the 2016 versions of him right now. YOUR POST IS THE PROOF. Do you think for a moment that Cronkite's allegedly untouchable reputation (which is also revisionist BS by the way) would've survived a month up against the twin horsepucky factories of the Conservative Bubble and its liberal counterpart, which you appear to have disappeared into?

This idea that journalists have forgotten how to journalist is asinine. And more to the point, IT'S PRECISELY WHAT TRUMP AND PUTIN ARE TRYING TO GET YOU TO BELIEVE. Congratulations and way to go, you've succumbed to the same brainwashing that got the Trumpsters to vote for Trump in the first place.

YOU'RE JUST AS BAD AS THEY ARE. Your rant is a rant composed entirely of HuffPo editorial garbage. It's no more accurate than the latest from Breitbart. And it's crazy talk like that that makes you incapable of dealing with the REAL REALITY ... which the NY Times, Washington Post, three major networks, NPR, and any number of other reputable news outlets have been reporting all along, and continue to report, trying to break through the steaming piles of crap like your rant. Sorry reality doesn't agree with your tirade, but THAT'S YOUR FAULT, not reality's.

Blaming the election loss on the Electoral College? News flash: The Clinton campaign knew about the EC before election day, but chose not to campaign in the states it turned out they desperately needed. CLINTON'S CAMPAIGN BLEW THIS with a stupid endgame strategy borne of hubris and obliviousness, in the world's most un-blowable election. If your news source is, or WAS, reporting otherwise, then DUMP IT.

OK, done here. Guess both sides are going to jump on the crazy train and ride it to oblivion. And yet again, #WASS.

I hope you are right. But, it wouldn't matter because you would all deny that there is a problem anyway. Hope you feel the same way when something that you believe in becomes the target and it will happen. Then maybe you will understand what we have been trying to say. Good luck!

What you're talking about here is believing your own headcanon over ALL reporting. That's what you're trying to say, and that's how the nutjobbery starts.

We are in a seriously dangerous situation in this country right now, which means that now more than ever, it's important to follow the actual journalism, and not to disappear into your own fact-free cocoon. Keeps one from wasting time chasing phantoms like the electoral college.

Your false equivalency is showing. ;)

And I'm not particularly familiar with Cronkite, but I do believe that if today's media had more balls and less greed the world would be better off. Hell, the international media handles matters far better than the U.S. (kinda like gun control that way), so it's not like it's some global systemic problem we've always had. It's a 24/7 cable news driven, 'this day and age in America' problem, and could be solved if the right people step up to the plate.
