Here's the trailer, and it looks really good! It's almost certain that this movie will be a huge success. Even I can't wait to see it.
The Beast seems to suffer from a motion capture face, and the enchanted objects still don't seem as successful as their animated counterparts, but I agree it looks nice overall. I'm not sure whether I'll actively seek this movie out, but I wouldn't mind seeing it It's a musical right? It seemed like most of Gaston's bits were from the tavern song, but they cut out any actual singing
The thinking seems to be that if you know it's a musical you already know it's a musical and if you don't know it's a musical they don't show the music and so you won't be turned off by it.
So I finally watched that trailer. Bad move. I'm going to be grouchy all day. Why would ANYBODY want to waste time on this crap?
I think it looks really good and I'm a lot more excited about this one than Cinderella. When I watch the Jungle Book it really surprised me. Cinderella was pretty good too. They are pretty much exactly the same as the original animated versions. Besides, this one has Emma Watson. How could you not like Hermione?
I'm kind of where you are mawnck. People seem to be fascinated with these re-do's. In this case, from animated feature, to live stage musical to live action feature. In some instances, the live action shots seem to mimic the animated feature. I've not seen any of these remakes.
This probably makes me a bad person, but I'm SO hoping they have to take a big fat write-off on this piece of computerized trash. I know ... a futile hope. No doubt it'll make a killing.
That is not a good sculpt of Emma. Didn't they have any Hermione dolls to recycle? I'd replace that head with this one.
I feel that way because (a) nothing I have seen of the film so far has turned out to be even slightly good, and that most definitely includes Emma's nasally, heavily autotuned "singing" upthread, and (b) I hate seeing the original masterpiece supplanted by this hideous, standard issue CGI crap.
Nothing beats the live stage show of Sweeney Todd. I remember seeing Sweeney Todd played by Kelsey Grammar. It was a lot of fun. Neil Patrick Harris played Tobias. The Tim Burton version wasn't very good probably because of Johnny Depp's singing.
