If it's a safety issue, then people need to learn the facts. The odds of being killed by a foreign terrorist are absurdly low. You're more likely to be killed by a white supremacist born in South Carolina, by a toddler with a gun, by lightning, and by falling out of bed. (And of course this is about race; we're not stupid.)
I've already participated in two Bay Area demonstrations and I'm willing to add my voice to more, even if it means traveling to DC or some other city to do so. Talk is cheap they say,and given that white-nationalist Steve Bannon is likely the orchestrator of this week's nightmare executive orders, I've spent the day looking for charitable organizations that will fight in court to uphold the Constitution while the Trump Administration does all it can to destroy it. I'm curious to know what others have done or are planning to do. This week has been hard and the bad news keeps coming and I'm looking for ways to be productive and fight back. Exactly. If the GOP doesn't do something to block this lunatic then they are complicit in his actions along with every other member of the party. All Americans, including Republicans, need to push the GOP to resist Trump and minimize the damage they are about to do over the next four years.
We were in Seattle last weekend and instead of marching we stayed with the grandchildren so our daughter and son-in-law could march. At least I felt like I was doing something. I hope the scientist marches materialize in Sacramento or San Francisco so we can be a part of that.
I'll say this the last 11/12 days have done enough to get me to seriously consider voting Democrat the next two elections. And yes I typed those words.
I'm just glad you are still paying attention. Sometimes people can't afford to put politics on ignore and tune out. The decisions the Trump administration are making are going to affect all of us one way or another. It may be uncomfortable, it may not be fun, it may be the very last thing you want to do, but everyone needs to be willing to fight for what they believe, otherwise you risk losing it. It doesn't mean you have to go out there and protest, it may be as small as just not tearing down the people who are. I saw one tweet, from someone on a plane going to JFK that was delayed because of the protests. The passengers didn't grumble at the delay...they applauded.
If something is not done about North Korea and Iran's nuclear ambitions soon, you won't need to think about the next presidential election's parties and candidates.
Here we are bickering about immigration while Iran continues to test more rockets in defiance of UN resolutions
Very good points. Why is this President and his clown car full of clowns not working on finding a way to make the entire world safer instead of allocating money to build a useless wall because they don't like that Mexicans come to this country and do work that no one here wants to do. Or targeting Moslem's who don't have a nuclear bomb or live in No. Korea. It's time to pull your head out of you butt and understand what is at stake here and it is not Syrian Immigrants, that's nothing more then a smoke screen and a way of making you think that Crump is keeping his promises all the while ignoring his responsibilities to keep us safe in a much larger scale. Want to know why... HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW. He thinks if he yells loud enough everyone will get scared and go away like they did when dealing with his business policies. No one has ever had less of a clue than that whole group of a-holes that he has surrounded himself with. You don't think that getting tough on Syrian Immigrants is going to make Kim Jong-un go in a corner and whimper, destroy his nukes, rockets and other war materials. Of course not, but, lets waste time, money, resources and quality political expertise on crap that will be deemed unconstitutional shortly anyway. He is living up to everything we predicted he would and unless those that were flim-flamed by him come to the realization just how conned they were and get pissed off, it is going to be a bitter pill to swallow. And the idiotic wall. Let's build it and the charge admission to the idiots that thought that was a good idea. We can make it a betting situation were once it's built, we can take bets on people going over it, under it or around it. There never was a dumber idea ever in our history. Oh, and how about the great Conservative hero, Ronald Reagan, who once stood up and loudly said to Mr. Gorbachev... "There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Know what the new Conservative wants to do... Build a wall! How confused are you folks anyway?
The situation here in the UK is very interesting. We have officially said we're against the ban, but won't condemn it or Donald Trump because we're desperate to be best friends when we leave the EU. A petition to block Trump from having a state visit with the Queen now has over 1.5 million signatures, but so far it's going ahead. We're having protests here in many of our major cities and I'm actually amazed at the level of support coming out of the country. If our government aren't careful I can see this getting very toxic for them.
Only the incredibly ignorant that have seen way to many Rambo movies and think we are invincible or that their children won't die fighting Trumps upcoming war just as so many peoples children did over the years. I was in one, I don't want to see anyone have to do that for things other then the cause of Freedom. This is the opposite.
Or just does not give a damn. I think one has a better chance of winning the lottery than actually being killed by a terrorist. And if you cut it down to only Muslim terrorists the odds get even lower. Side note for reflection: Does anyone have a clue how many planes landed safely today?
Some people do. The same, Ill-informed people who live in the mid-west and think their manufacturing jobs are coming back.
The terrifying thing is that greed and incompetence from Trump is starting to look like the best case scenario.
Very, very, very thin. So thin you could read through it thin. But that thin hope was that being *popular* is part of Trump's definition of being a "winner." But President Bannon has other ideas, clearly. Now my hope is that Trump will become enraged seeing himself cast as the second banana to Steve Bannon and might actually knock Bannon down a peg or two. Either way, we are living in a nightmare.
I agree, that more then anything else has to be the focus. His ego cannot withstand the idea that people think that it is one of his chosen few that is actually running things. Good or bad, he wants the credit. I think we should all refer to the President by name. President Steven Bannon. Trump is just his boy toy. Perhaps it should start with the media. Ask Sean, what President Bannon's plan is for any of the questioned policies.
