I saw a parade of Republicans on the early morning news shows saying we need to "move on" from this now that Flynn has resigned. Well, no. This should be the start of the investigation, not the end. Trump's ties to Russia go way beyond Flynn. Remember Manafort? Remember him having to resign after his ties to Russia became too obvious, back in the summer? Remember the Trumpistas changing the GOP platform to take out previous tough language regarding Russia's actions in Ukraine - for no discernible reason but to placate Putin? Now we know for sure that Flynn discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador (and lied about it), before he was a government official, and possibly not just in December (which we know about, based on Obama's "you messed with our election" sanctions), but back in the summer too when Trump was just a candidate. Was that "we'll take off the Ukraine-based sanctions if you help us win this election, Vlad buddy?" These Russian ties are deep and they are rotten. And they need to be brought to light. Having said that, I'm damn glad Flynn is out. He struck me as downright unstable, exacerbating Trump's crazy rather than countering it. This is a guy who, among other things, spread/tweeted obvious fake news falsehoods about Clinton supposedly running a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor (!) There are sort of two possibilities with that one: a). He knew he was spreading falsehoods, which should have disqualified him from being National Security Advisor right there; or b). He actually believed that stuff, which only an unhinged conspiracy-theory-head could possibly have believed. Which should have disqualified him from being NS Advisor even faster! The last guy you want advising you on deadly serious matters is a guy who actually believes wacko conspiracy theories, and who might base his advise on them. But, as I said, it is NOT time to close the book on this guy. It's time to look into him deeper and discover who else in the Trump admin. is/was playing footsie with Putin and for what reasons.
It's always the jerks who do wrong things who want to 'move on.' Trump can never undo all the shitty things he's said over the past year. He always wants to 'move on' from that too.
Also, wrap your head around this one: apparently the National Security Advisor didn't know that we monitor/tap phone calls with the Russian ambassador. I mean... wrap your head around that one for a second.
Right? The Russians are playing (and playing and playing) 3D chess, while the Trumpistas are finding suddenly they're the ones getting played.
