Sounds like a good pairing, and one that goes back to the roots of the Cars franchise. The first film had its premiere at Charlotte Motor Speedway the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, in conjunction with the Coca-Cola 600 the following Sunday evening. I was within a reasonable driving distance and tickets were cheap (around $10, going to Paul Newman's charity, if I remember correctly) so I actually went and had a great time. Other than a late afternoon thunderstorm and insane traffic getting to the track from the interstate, it was a really neat event and the massive scale of it was particularly memorable

This sounds like it will be understandably smaller, but should still be a good fit

Yep, so Lightning McQueen is basically Doc now. He has to go up against fancy new cars with better technology (and presumably snotty attitudes), gets in a crash, and learns a valuable life lesson. Yawn.

It's the first one all over again. I guess I'm still giving it a try, because I still love the first one.

Kerry Washington will make her animation debut this summer in Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3.”

The “Scandal” star voices a red sports car named Natalie Certain, one of the newest members of Lightning McQueen’s speedy crew.

According to Pixar, Natalie is “a highly respected statistical analyst who knows her numbers. Book-smart and mathematically gifted, Certain is a fresh voice in the racing world. While she may earn top marks in her ability to evaluate a racer’s stats, she could be underestimating the importance of determination.”

Took the kids to see Cars 3 last night and very much enjoyed it. The story is better than I thought and there is very little Matter. It all focuses on McQueen and his trainer as he gets in shape for one last race before forced retirement or when he decides when to quit. The background animation is truly breathtaking at spots. Very detailed. It's much better than Cars 2 and a good way to close out the series.
