It sounds great, but... over $1,000 per person? I guess this hoi is staying with the polloi.

*sigh* Yet another time they've taken formerly-in-park space and turned it into space for high rollers only. And the way they're shilling the Walt connection just feels kind of icky to me.

This feels like yet another way for them to let alcohol creep into the park. For the price, it certainly should include alcohol, but I'm just not a fan of the direction they're heading in

I'm also not a fan of the design of the new dining room. When I visited the Dream Suite circa 2011, they let us poke our heads in there, and it was a relatively plain room (other than the fireplace) that still had the original wallpaper from the 60's; it had been used as a stock room during the Disney Gallery days, and was occasionally used for light storage after that. The paintings in the inset panels seem a little heavy-handed for such a high-end experience. They remind me of the headboards at Port Orleans Riverside; it's just fine on a small scale at a mid-level price, but it doesn't seem terribly appealing for a $1,000-per-plate dinner

I do like the custom dishes though

They have been letting people into the Dream Suite with the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. We had our picture taken in front of that very fireplace. Would I pay $1000 to eat there...no, probably not...would I pay for the tour and get a lunch at Jolly Holiday to see the Dream Suite...most definitely yes. It makes me wonder if they're not going to include the Dream Suite as part of the tour if they're going to have the special dining experience up there.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that I actually ate in the Dream Suite when I visited. A friend was staying there for the night and I was able to come in as a guest and watch Fantasmic! from the balcony; I'm pretty sure we grabbed bread bowls from the Harbor Galley (the gumbo window had a crazy long line) and brought them back to the suite to eat...in the courtyard maybe? I don't remember exactly where we ate, but I remember walking up the stairs to the suite with food in my hands

Sure, it wasn't a gourmet meal, but it offered a much higher value for the money spent.

I stumbled upon this blog post from November 2015, showing photos of the "new" dining room that were 5 months old at the time. It originally opened as a special add-on for Club 33 members, but the recent news would make it seem like this wasn't a particularly successful venture so they've opened it up to the high-rolling public

I vaguely remember hearing about it at the time, but I guess it slipped my mind

So exactly how much is dinner there? Is it $15k or $1500 per plate or party? I keep seeing different numbers.

I read $15,000 flat rate, 12 max. people.

I went digging through my old photos, and it turns out that I actually grabbed a picture of the dining room before it was remodeled. I remember it looking more dusty and faded, but it turns out that the basic wall paneling was already in place and appeared to be in generally good condition

Seems like every time I think about reinstating my annual pass, Disney management goes and does some stupid un-Disney thing that gives me a reason not to.

    What would Walt do, indeed.

That's too bad. I thought we could skew the results a little.

Actually, now it seems like they've taken something from the High Rollers and turned it into something for the HIGHER ROLLERS
