I liked how the opening made use of the building's architecture, but it seemed like that was quickly ignored so that the castle could just be used as a plain old projection screen. Architectural mapping works the best when it embraces the architecture, but it seems like they've been ignoring it a lot in the recent shows

Also the opening announcement seems very long, especially for a park that is notorious for its language difficulties. I wouldn't be surprised if that was cut down after the show opens

This looks like it should be a great show. I imagine some of those effects up close and in large scale will seem quite realistic. It should be interesting to see how the story line pans out. I hope it's more interesting than Mickey interacting with various Disney movies, but won't hold my breath.

On the one hand it looks really cool, but on the other hand it looks cheap.

Is Pirates open during the refurb? The painted tarp looks like an advertisement to show people that the attraction is still open, without having to walk up to it. If it's closed, I agree that it's a bad idea; it draws too much attention to itself, rather than blending in

Looking at the La Gazette photos of the rock work around the Pirates entrance, I realized why that area feels so far removed from the US Disney parks: there are no handrails on the stairs. US building codes are very strict about having handrails with even just a couple steps, so having all those various up-and-down walkways without them really felt like I was in a different world. Although I think they're a good idea for safety, having code-required things like that always takes away some of the immersion for me, since it's a reminder of where we really are

I also like the new Star Tours CM costumes. It looks like they're taking some loose inspiration from the US designs, but they're completely new versions of the same idea (assuming Tokyo has the US ones); I especially like how many different cold weather options they have, for a variety of temperatures; in the American parks it seems like there are short and long sleeves and a coat/jacket for each uniform, but this has a lot of different layers to mix and match

That's a real shame that Cinemagique has closed. Although it was a pretty simple concept, it was so well executed that it really was a classic. I hope that whatever replaces it is at least as good, though that would be difficult to do

It's also odd that they decided to close it right as the 25th began. Why not a couple weeks earlier? Or wait a few weeks more? Everything I've seen of the 25th so far looks very nice, but this sort of goes against all that

I haven't read all the documents concerning the DLP buyout and the shareholders meeting ED SCA and TWDC released today, but apparently theremight be a huge investment coming to DLP.

Tony Baxter was at DLP last weekend. Here's a Q&A he did with fans.

I guess I got too excited about the 2.1 billion investment, because that investment covers 10 years.

Marvel attractions confirmed in 10 year Disneyland Paris investment plan

Spread over 10 years, that's still more than 200M per year. Even with France's high construction costs, that should let them average at least one new major attraction per year, along with other smaller improvements

But of course this is just an announcement, so who knows how much they'll follow through. The Disney Decade was also a very exciting announcement in the early 90's, but it fizzled out in just a few years

DLP has launched a mysterious website for Electroland, with the tagline "where music meets magic" and the date 8 July 2017
Electroland – Disneyland Paris – WHERE MUSIC MEETS MAGIC

The design reminds me of the much-missed GlowFest at DCA. Something like that would be a completely new offering at DLP (most likely in the Studios, perhaps in the courtyard in front of the now-closed Cinemagique) and has the potential to be a big draw if it strikes the right tone with guests

Plus, there's an easy connection to Disney's most recent hot film franchise ;)

I'm not a big fan of Electro or Techno Music, but I can imagine that such an event would be a good offering. However I think it will just be another album of Disney music newly arranged with electronic music.

I'm not a coffee drinker, so I don't care either way about Starbucks, but I think it is a good addition to the hotels. When I was there last fall, the only food at the Cheyenne was the buffet restaurant; it will be great to have an option for quick snacks or a light meal, since the hotel is so far from Disney Village

I never realized that the bushes next to the teacups were shaped like a caterpillar. That's a fun touch!

I am also not a coffee drinker, but I agree more food and beverage options at those hotels is a good idea.

I'm surprised they're widening L'avenue Paul Seramy. We drove in that way, and I think we were the only car on the road. It seems like most traffic goes around the back of the resort to access the parking lot and hotels, so the front entrance is relatively quiet

I'm not terribly excited about Hyperspace Mountain in Discoveryland, but I'm glad that all the changes look like they could easily be undone. The new trains look especially nice, and should make it a smoother ride Hopefully they'll revert it to the original storyline in a year or two

I'm still not sure I understand the concept of Villages Nature, but it looks like the construction is nearing completion and the architecture is really neat. I don't know if that concept would be a success in the US, but I hope it appeals to the European audience

You should google CentreParks! The company behind CenterParks teamed with Disney to create Villages Natures. CentreParks is very popular in the Benelux countries, Germany and in the UK. So that concept might appeal to mayn people to extend their stay at DLP.

If I'm not mistaken, Disney is adding more taxi and bus stops to the area next to Disney Village and the parking garage. Many non-Disney hotels already offer shuttle services that stop there.

The new trains for SM look indeed very nice.
