All Aboard! (Don't worry, we're not going anywhere on a train) I will be continuing my annual tradition of hosting a meet at the Disneyland railroad this July 17th. It will once again begin at 10am at the Main Street Station. Because the Disneyland Railroad is still out of service due to the Star Wars Land expansion, and there is not a group of meets occurring, it will be the starting point of group rides wherever the wind takes us. (We're Mary Poppins, y'all!) If anyone else is hosting a meet, feel free to message me to coordinate times. Monday, July 17th, 2017 10am Main Street Station All are welcome. Please RSVP below All Aboard! -retlawfan PS. No prizes/giveaways are being planned this year. Let's just get together for a while and have fun in our favorite park.
No official date yet, but the Disney Parks blog has said "this summer". I expect it to be after July 17th.
Yes, there are a couple of others. I'm hoping the Railroad may be in a soft opening for the birthday, although not officially reopening until 7/29. If people want to go their separate ways after a ride or two that's ok. I was figuring Main Street vehicles, then west side attractions Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion.
I am looking forward to keeping this tradition. Sad that there won't be more, but glad to see all who show up. Bringing my daughter and grandson.
Oh damn!! That makes me even more upset that I have to post this. We were really planning on making it. But my daughter procrastinated so much and then changed the dates to the end of the month instead of the middle. By the time we were sure of the dates; we could not get reservations. We just have too much going on to try to do two trips in one month.
I wish we could go, but just can't make it happen. I really miss going and hosting LP meets. Had some great times!
I thought I might suggest a viewing of the train in the station after fireworks. I was at DL/DCA last week after fireworks and WOC I spotted the train sitting at the station every night.... When I walked under the tracks (City Hall side) I waved at the locomotive engineers sitting and watching us. I told them I missed them. They said they would return soon.
I must say I was very disappointed that only 7 people, including retlawfan and his family, showed up at 10am on Disneyland's 62nd Birthday. I can only hope that next year, with the DLRR up and running, attendance will be better. I miss the days when there were a lot of meets and seeing friends from all over the world showed up.
