A solo DL trip....I don't think I could do it. I don't even like to go into a restaurant by myself.
I tried a solo DL trip once about 35 years ago. My girlfriend and I were planning to go for a couple of days. Then, she broke up with me and I decided to go ahead and take the trip without her. Granted, I was really depressed and it was hard to see all these happy couples and families around me, but the whole experience was awkward and lonely.

I've never done a solo trip. I have to admit that I don't know about eating by myself and that kind of thing if it's going to be super awkward or not. I figure for a semi-landmark birthday it's worth a shot though, and Steve seems to be okay about it since he's teasing me about meeting up with a secret friend on my trip. He also tends to dictate a lot of what goes on during our vacations, so I think it will be nice to go at my own pace and to do the things that I know he doesn't like as much.

I wish I could be more comfortable in being alone. I love the idea of it. I'd slow down the pace quite a bit. I imagine grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting at a bench on Main Street in the morning--just watching folks and making up little background stories for each. I'd wander, mosey, meander, stroll....lol

I was in my 40's before I ever went to a movie and lunch alone. I enjoyed it more than I imagined.
Since that time I have done movies, meals, the gym, Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Marine World...………….. I would sometimes go very fast and sometimes mosey but it was always my choice.
Since we retired I have not had opportunities to do much alone. Sometimes a blessing; sometimes a curse.

Okay...to go or not to go...that is the question. I was able to price out a flight from PDX to SNA, SuperShuttle to Anaheim Hilton, and a 3 day hopper ticket for $714. Come in on Sunday morning and fly back on Tuesday afternoon. I am torn because for free (minus gas & wine $$$) I could just go to our condo in Long Beach, and simply go to a movie of my choice on my birthday instead. Too many choices...what would you guys do? Steve is fine with me doing either option...I'm just waiting to be tipped one way or another. My coworkers don't quite get my Disney obsession...they told me "Didn't you just go the first part of December? Why go back so soon?" *sighs* Non-Disney people just don't get it. ;)

You can say that again. My first reaction is GO FOR IT!! ºoº
Though I have never gone for 3 days alone; I have a Disney friend who lives in Reno and is an AP. She goes several times a year and stays for up to 9 days. We often join her for a few days but she loves her time alone.

Disneyland trip is officially on hold. I conveniently forgot that we are replacing the doors in our main hallway this spring, so that is why I had that extra money sitting around burning a hole in my pocket. No worries...I will just continue to put a little aside each paycheck until I build up a separate little vacation foothold. Long Beach will be just fine for my birthday this year.

When you get the funds, and although I personally wouldn't do it, I think you should take the Disneyland trip. That may sound goofy for me to say. But, it's something you want to do and I get the sense that it is just dangling there waiting for you to snatch it....You know, carpe diem, and all that jazz. :)

    2nd that

I would say, "What! No credit cards?!!?" But this last trip was paid for in advance and it is a very good feeling to not be expecting a bill. So stick to your plan but do get that solo trip in.

We got about an inch of snow last night. Why doesn't Portland have a clue what to do when it snows???

Sorry to hear that but I understand. We are leaning that way ourselves. I doubt that we will go unless it involves grandchildren.

What about WDW? I realize we are all on the wrong coast for that venue, but do you miss some of the stuff going on over there? I am probably more excited for the WDW changes going on than stuff at DLR right now too.

Right Now I Feel The Need To Say:
I want this giant cloud to move on. We cannot even take a short trip out to fish in the Delta.
