I'm glad you enjoy it, but I don't think I'm going to see it.
I really don't have an opinion on Star Wars either way.

I'm sure in about 3 years or so I'll be interested in walking around back there.
(This all coming from a guy who just saw Cars Land for the first time this summer)

What I'm discovering about myself and Disneyland is that it's really only enjoyable if it's something I did with my daughter when she was little.

I feel the same.... I constantly look for pieces of the past.

And, while I'm curious about the new land, I can take it or leave it.

How do people feel about the placement of Galaxy's Edge? Is there a nice transition going from one area of the park into it?
As much of a traditionalist as I am, I thought they should have just pulled out Autopia and the Subs and put GE there. With all the environmental concerns being the rage, I'm surprised they are still running the autopia cars. Maybe they should work with Tesla and have them sponsor the building of new electric cars.

That is why I like going with my grandchildren.
I try to see it fresh through their eyes.

The proof will be in the pudding; it sounds like the the preview period was a success in how they handled the crowd generally; they let in a good number of people so that the wait for SR wasn't too long for most (and most got to ride more than once if they wanted to), with the only too-crowded-to-experience (for many) experiences being the light saber workshop and the Cantina. The former seems okay to me, in that I doubt most people will be wanting to shell out $200 for a light saber every time they go (or in my case, ever!), so those lines should naturally diminish over time. The Cantina seems the one area where they might have planned better, since that seems destined to be popular for a long time to come; perhaps making multiple levels if they wanted to keep the small footprint and intimate feel (i.e. each level could have had an intimate feel) - two above-ground levels and one basement level could probably have worked pretty well.

Now that the previews have ended we'll see how well the virtual reservation system works. If it doesn't work as intended, of course, they can always tweak later. It can be hard to predict exactly how things like this will go once the rubber hits the road.

Even though I'm a childless 57-year-old bachelor with no prospects, I understand that feeling precisely. I first experienced the early-1970s Main Street Electrical Parade as a roughly-twelve-year-old kid, and while my reaction to America On Parade was kind of "meh," I fell in love with the late-1970s MSEP, and from then until the October 17th Passholder Party and the last-minute encore, that was one of the things that kept me returning, often several times a month. It drove my first visit to WDW, and when it went to DCA, it was my biggest "must see" there. I didn't think Light Magic was actually bad; I just thought it had an impossibly tough act to follow. ("Pain in the Night," on the other hand, is another matter entirely). And the recent return, even if it wasn't the Don Dorsey version of the score, and even without the Blue Fairy, was the first time in years that I'd made more than one visit per year.

I was seriously annoyed when the old Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars building (something else I experienced as a child) was gutted and turned into a pizzeria. It is because I first experienced CircleVision as a child that when I visit Epcot, it is the China and Canada CV films that are among my "must-see" attractions (and also why I still carry so much "bad blood" over the DL CV theatre being shut down and gutted, that I have never had the slightest interest in doing the DL version of Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

Yes. I've felt that way (not necessarily with Tesla as a sponsor, but that would certainly work) since before the Chevron sponsorship years. And with drive-by-wire steering, automatic collision avoidance, and a "virtual guide rail," that might even allow guests to choose different paths through the attraction.

From all the reports today the virtual reservation system seems to be working great.

We are heading into the home stretch of the summer and I have been lucky enough to get to go to the park may times over the past few months. I must say that I really am enjoying Galaxy Edge even without second attraction. This doesn't mean that I think that it is perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it has been fun. Smugglers Run is a blast and has great repeatability. The food is surprising good even if it takes a while to figure out what you are ordering. I have mixed feelings about the app, there are some fun things with it but I think that they could do more.

On a slight change of subject do you think that WDW will have the crowds that we didn't get?

On the WDWmagic forum in the trip reports there are a few that have gotten their advance reservations for AP holders. I'm not sure if they are doing the same kind of thing DL did with the reservation times to get into the area. Nobody seems to be super stoked about it though, but there has been voiced concern about crowds. I think they are opening it at the right time because kids will start going back to school which will lessen the crowds a little bit.

Quite remarkable. I'm very much into immersive experiences (which is to say that when I visit Colonial Williamsburg, I always try to book my final night in a Colonial House accommodation, and when I visit Boston, I always do Plimoth Plantation, and when I visit WDW, I choose the All Star Music, even if I can afford a more expensive hotel). And this is really immersive. It feels like I've actually walked into a Star Wars movie. Even without SR, just walking around GE is a remarkable experience.

Question: does SR have different missions? I only did it once (single rider queue).

Regarding this year's MSEP run, they still haven't brought back the Blue Fairy, and I still say the Don Dorsey arrangement of the score is better than the one they're currently using.

The fireworks were good last night, but I've seen better.

Thanks for posting. Sounds like they only saw one scene (plus an audio-only of the preshow?) but they certainly were impressed.

Hmm. Sporks. Disappearing sporks. Now sporks for sale, but in limited quantities.

Haven't they heard of plastic sporks?
