At least it did not get as hot today as predicted. Only 99 and they had said 105!

I hope that everybody was able to stay safe over the weekend with the additional madness of the various riots. My work only sustained broken glass on a door that was boarded up by the time I got into the office this morning. I know there are other parts of the city that weren't as lucky. I pray for those businesses that were affected that they are able to pick up the pieces again, and that our world as a whole takes a step back to reflect on the fact that violence is never the answer.

I was feeling pretty okay about where we are, out in the country; just sad. Our protests had all been peaceful and even practicing social distancing and mask wearing. But I just found out this morning that our local mall and community college were targeted. It is almost like somebody decided it is too peaceful here and thought they must stir something up. I am so angry at the senselessness I can barely speak. We really need to grocery shop tomorrow.

Actually, the biggest problem with the looting you described is that it isn't the slightest bit senseless: it's entirely opportunistic.

Yes it is opportunistic. Especially here where only a few people are like, "Hey, aren't we supposed to be looting?" Almost all of them have been caught, arrested and most of the property returned. They do not even understand what it takes to *successfully* loot. We decided not to go shopping because some of the stores were closing as a precaution. Figured it would be prudent to just wait. (But I am still angry that such a decision was even necessary.)

When things get back to *normal*; I think we will keep shopping at 6AM.
I guess most people have gotten their shelves well stocked again. We went to Walmart for senior hour and there were probably no more than 20 cars in the parking lot. There were no lines and we were able to get everything we needed except creamed corn which my son eats a lot of. Bit of a curiosity that there would be no creamed corn. We were back home by 7:30.

Happy Father's Day! I hope that everybody has a safe Juneteenth as well during this strange time. 21 days of protesting so far in Portland, and they toppled a statue of George Washington last night which is the most damage that has been done since the riots stopped.

I just read the piece about WDW discontinuing the "complimentary Magic Band" nonsense, and I, for one, am delighted.

I will also note that when I got home from my most recent vacation that included WDW, I found that they had mailed me one. AFTER I'd already left (I had several days in New Orleans before going anywhere near WDW). I've always found it irritating that various vacation packagers always assume that your vacation will consist entirely of what they're selling. Single-destination vacations are boring!

Well, this is not WE so I will not go on a rant. But I feel the need to say that while I am favor of teaching the whole truth about our Founding Fathers; I feel defacing and vandalizing are crimes which should be punished. I would love to see the removal of Traitor memorials but still want to see it done through the courts for the right reasons.

Our Father's Day looks to be a small but fun gathering. (Just my daughter's family.) Rod is just finishing our new deck. We were not able to get new patio furniture as I just could not bring myself to order it online. I want to be able to actually shop for it. (And Home Depot told us that those deliveries have not even been made.) So we will use card tables and folding chairs. I am making shrimp kabobs and we are planning to wait until 7 to eat so it will be cooler. It is supposed to get into triple digits.

I wholeheartedly agree with you @iamsally! The whole truth is important because if it's not taught then history is more apt to repeat itself. What was done to George was a crime, and I do believe they caught up with a few individuals that were a part of the vandalism.

My Father's Day consisted of the consumption of Honey Ginger Lime beer from Cascade Barrel Brewing, ordering Famous Dave's BBQ to be delivered to the house, and watching Captain Marvel to introduce my dad to Goose. It was a nice afternoon with proper distancing (with the one exception to the goodbye hug...first hug I've had from my parents since February).

Yesterday I heard someone say, "We cannot whitewash history nor can we Whiteout it." I liked that. I hope to see a lot of consequences for anyone caught breaking the law.

We ended up with quite a spread yesterday. My daughter made hamburgers and brought corn on the cob and squash to grill. I made the skewers and we had a thick rib eye steak that we grilled like a roast and a small pork loin. Everything was delicious and I ate way to much.

I think the message of Black Lives Matter needs to be revised to ALL Lives Matter. We need to focus on the WHOLE of this thing that is going on which is police brutality when placing people under arrest...doesn't matter the color of your skin or nationality if one is treated in that manner when being placed under arrest. (No disrespect meant if my message came across poorly) That being said I also feel for our police forces across the nation because there are plenty that do not behave in that particular manner, and their jobs have just become much more difficult when it comes to those individuals that resist arrest. Be kind everybody...right now everybody needs a little kindness thrown their way.

But *All Lives Matter* is a racist statement!!!! (Sarcasm intended.) Sadly though, it is considered such by many.

As a person who was raised to be kind to everyone whenever possible; I do wish we could see more kindness.

Reminds me of a certain political candidate's claim that COVID-19 masks are "species discrimination."

The last time I checked, cats and dogs aren't particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, and most humans seem to be more sentient than most cats and dogs.

I'm with you on that one...I really wish that I worked from home because I would be having a glass of wine right now (even though it's only 7:00 am here). I'm feeling super tired and worn out physically and emotionally. *sighs* Am I the only one looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, but not quite able to see it yet?

Every time I try to see light at the end of the tunnel it is a freight train.
