I'm with you guys on this one too. There are plenty of places OUTside the park to have a nice meal and drink if wanted. Alcohol is just a slippery slope for too many people, so why have the temptation out there in a family park?
I just wanted to share something that happened over the weekend. Steve and I went to Lowes, and we took our well-behaved dogs with us because they really haven't been getting out to do things this summer either. We were walking down the aisle, and I overheard a woman grumbling about us bringing our dogs in the store (it is allowed even if they are not service animals) while she is wearing her mask incorrectly. It took all of my strength and might not to make a snarky comment back to her as we passed by. On our way to the store I heard the song "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw...that lady should be counting her lucky stars that I heard that song because it's a good reminder for everybody. I don't know about you guys, but I have been noticing that I am much more quickly annoyed about stupid little things. In this difficult time the easiest thing for us to do is to be kind to others.
You are so right. Now more than ever we need to choose our battles with care. Be kind whenever possible. We always took our dachshund to Orchard and Home Depot. I mean, it is not like they serve food.
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away....................in the *Hay Day* of LP; this topic came up. I was told that I must be too young because there is nothing better than a glass of wine with the evening fireworks. I was like, "Um, I am 60."
I'm 58, myself. And like Cole Porter, I get no kick from champagne. (And like Graham Kerr after he stopped drinking, "That's my choice.")
Whereas we enjoy a glass of wine with a meal or in the evening; I feel alcohol had and still has no place in Disneyland (nor any of the Parks for that matter).
Faced with one of the reasons we must sell our house!! Got a call from our son that there is no water. We live in the country with a well. Luckily, we have a good neighbor and he was able to run a hose so there is some water until we get home. But, wildfires and Covid spike notwithstanding; we have to get home and get it fixed. Could just be something minor up top or the pump could be shot. I just do not want to have to deal with these things when we are on the road.
Hmm. "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" removed from all background loops? Ok, and what happens when they have people -- CMs and Guests alike -- running around the Parks with their Doo-Dahs un-Zipp-a'd? (Reminds me of the old chestnut about the prudish spinster complaining about her neighbor whistling bawdy songs.) I remember laughing out loud, the first time I recognized Blazing Saddles in the Frontierland background loop.
Over zealous *Pollical Correctness* is one of many reasons we are in the mess we are in. THAT was funny!
I am home, tired and ready to write a brief report with pictures soon. Then we hope to be able to zip up to Seattle.
If you make it up to Seattle let me know how it is up there. We have been chomping at the bit to get out of town for a while. I might do a short stent in Long Beach in a couple of weeks so I can get out of the house. The only places I have been since March are home, work, random stores in town, and my parents house...so ready for a break!!! We were supposed to be going to WDW in a couple of weeks, but we cancelled it because there are still too many cases in that area. Fingers crossed that we might be able to make a trip sometime next year...
I hear you. That is why when my sister said we could visit we jumped at the chance. That is also the beauty of a motorhome. We were able to travel and only have to stop to pump gas. If we make it to Washington we will park in a friend's yard and can isolate for 2 weeks if we feel it is necessary. My granddaughters are dying to see us as we had plans to be there for their dance recital and school talent show this spring. (cancelled of course) Both my daughter and son-in-law have tested negative so that makes me feel a little better.
Mid-February. Obviously the timing could be better. We can only hope things will be better next year. Uh yeah. I really feel old as this could have happened years ago. Most of my high school friends have several *greats* already.
What really makes me feel old is when people I watched grow up -- some since infancy -- start having kids, while I've got 18 years and counting on "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
My thoughts and prayers to those in California, Oregon, and Washington that are dealing with evacuations due to the wildfire activity in the area. It's awful smoky in the Downtown Portland area (where I work) and in Vancouver (where I live). The dogs are inside the house today due to all of the smoke...fingers crossed that everything is still intact when I get home from work...
In Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa, it's been rather a brown week, even with the closest wildfire over 40 miles away.
