I still haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. All I see (all I ever saw) is what YouTube generally puts up if you try to go to a "down" or nonexistent video.

Google "Trae Crowder" and Trump and look for things posted in the past week, and you'll see.

Sorry, I may have posted it from my tablet and that never works for some reason. I thought it may have been removed because of the content of the video.

Found his January 7 YouTube video.

He seems to be very fluent in Army Creole.

But he's too young to have been the one who taught Norman Mailer how to cuss.

Well, we've been deprived of the sight of Trump being thrown in irons and dragged from the White House by his own Secret Service detail. But at least the "Million Militia March" seems to have fizzled.

    So far.

Then again, I think we've already seen that the Capitol rioters, though they talk up a storm about a "revolution," are really just a bunch of cowards who don't have the stomach for (or a clue about) civil disobedience, or for deliberately getting themselves arrested in droves.

Doesn't mean they're not still dangerous; I think we may see it less as attempts to overtake a Capitol (state or national), and more as lone wolf/small group terrorism. We now have millions of radicalized-via-the-internet people believing in extremist ideology, which they justify by telling themselves the other guys are evil and THEY'RE actually the good guys. Not at all unlike ISIS-radicalized lone wolfs/small groups not long ago.

    That said, today happened.

Ding Dong, the witch is dead!

Or at least stewing in Mar-a-Lago, waiting for the almost inevitable legal action against him, from which he is no longer protected.

On a related note, he of course pardoned Bannon on his way out the door. But surely, I'm thinking, there could be state-level charges against Bannon for fleecing all those people - that was just garden-variety grift, against people in many states... surely some state AG will take that up (fingers crossed)?

A week and a half ago, a local United Methodist Pastor had this to say. Remarkably (and thankfully), one member of the online congregation had never even heard of QAnon (as is evident from the chat replay; if you keep watching, you'll see me throw my own two cents worth into the chat.

We actually had plans to pick up friends in Arkansas and head to DC to show t***p what a real inauguration looks like. We scratched those plans as Covid surged in December. Then, on January 6 it became academic anyway.
As I watched those flags unfurled in the 30* wind; I was actually relieved to be snuggled up in my living room.

    In my heart
    I still believe
    We shall overcome

I sure hope so! (Great to see you, Dabob, hope things are well and you're surviving COVID and the repeated assaults on our democracy.)

I'm curious what will happen with the last president (look at that, I don't even want to type out his name; I think we all could use a long break from him). I think he could easily fade away, and the prospect of federal or state charges is very real. I think I'm going to put on a blue hat that says "Make Politics Boring Again."

I love it! I wake up in the morning, look at my news feed and go, *Wow, what do we do now!?!*

(I do realize there is still much work to be done but it is so nice to not have all of my senses assaulted every morning just from reading the headlines.)
We Got Out the Vote now we must Keep Up the Vote!

Very easy point to miss, iamsally, but VITAL!

And not just the vote. Democracy and politics don't just take place every two years.

Looking back, in fact, I think a major problem when Obama took over was that it took SO much energy and emotion and seemed like such an uphill climb to get him elected in the first place, that after it happened there was something of a letdown among progressives. It was understandable to want to take a little breath and a little rest, but too many of us (myself included) just sort of said "Whew! That's done," instead of "Whew! Now it begins."

In other words, I think too many of us looked at Obama's election and said to ourselves "Mission Accomplished." I say that intentionally to tick progressives off, who remember the Bush banner and how declaring "Mission Accomplished" was ridiculously premature. But so it was for us if indeed we took that attitude in 2009, even if unconsciously. For all the amazing energy we had in 2007 and 2008 to get Obama elected, I think there was a major letdown in energy and all the energy instead went to the right wing, which soon took the form of the Tea Party, which of course went on to create big gains for the GOP in 2010. We needed to match that energy, and didn't.

So we can't make that same mistake now! Even if most of us weren't as enthused about Biden as we were about Obama, we WERE enthused to get Trump ousted, and now there's a danger of letdown and letting the right recapture all the energy. We have a shot at avoiding that with the GOP having some internal trouble right now. (And didn't McCarthy just set a new standard for "feckless?")

Politics isn't just elections. We need to keep up the energy and remain active. It's NOT just the folks in DC who determine the direction of the country.

But getting back to DC... So far, Biden has pleasantly surprised me not just with starting to get things back to normalcy (and yeah, ecdc, deliciously boring!), but with seemingly some legit progressive moves. What do ya'll think?

I'm enthused about Biden. Precisely because nobody can call him an extremist without murdering his or her own credibility. And it doesn't hurt that he's probably the most pro-passenger-rail President we've had within the lifetime of any living human being.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will note that I proudly self-identify as a militant centrist.

I expect that now that New York's Trump investigation has been given the green light, it will find evidence of misconduct that will further discredit him in the eyes of all but his base. Along with evidence of financial incompetence and failure that will finally begin to discredit him to his base.

Assuming, of course, he and his high-priced lawyers haven't succeeded in burying the evidence.

I feel we may be doomed if they cannot bring down the whole family. I so wanted him to just go away and sulk forever.
I am so disappointed in his party for not just disavowing him and moving on. But I guess they still see big $$$$$$$$ in keeping him relevant.

Now, there's nothing seriously wrong with his niece Mary. Would you visit the sins of the uncle upon the niece?

She does seem to be the white sheep of the family.

Boy, I'm hoping so. But cognitive dissonance is a stubborn thing.

After all look at Q-anon. Despite it being such a nutso set of beliefs that you'd think that no sane person could believe it, millions do. Think of those doomsday cults who predicted the end of the world on a specific date... when the date came and went, you'd think the followers would realize they'd been had, and renounce the cult and its leaders - and some did - but most continued on and waited for the next pronouncement. Niederhoffer and Kenner in a famous study said: "When you have gone far out on a limb and so many people have followed you, and there is much 'sunk cost,' as economists would say, it is difficult to admit you have been wrong." And so they're on to the next specific date the world will end.

Q-anon, of course, predicted that Trump would hold on to power. The fact that that didn't happen caused SOME Q followers to realize they'd been had, but not that many. The next "big date" for them is March 4 (a week from today), when Trump is supposed to be re-installed. When that fails to happen, look for most to continue their allegiance to Q anyway.

And if people can pledge allegiance to "Q" and believe the completely nutso story there, how much easier is it to believe Trump's own story that he is a Business Titan, a Patriot, a Genius, and a Great Man who was cheated out of his "massive landslide." None of those things are true, but his cult fervently believes those things, and it will be hard to pull them off of that, sadly, even if all sorts of evidence emerges in court to discredit them. They will find a way to rationalize and still believe in the Dear Leader.

Having said that, some people DO leave cults, some have had their eyes opened to Q-Anon, and if the percentage of Americans who will believe everything Trump says falls from 35% to 30%, that may not seem like a lot, but it actually is. And more important would probably be the first part of hbquikcomjamesl's equation ("all but his base"), the percentage of people who were never part of his cult but took a flyer on him. If he's discredited among that 10-15% of the electorate... well, you can't win with only 30 or 35% of the vote, voter suppression notwithstanding!

I do still worry that the hardcore Trump cultists and white supremacists (but I repeat myself) might turn violent either collectively, or in "lone wolf" attacks, radicalized over the internet like ISIS followers. And I hope the Biden administration takes that threat seriously, despite the long history of white right-wingers being by default wrongly considered "less dangerous" than non-whites and/or leftists.
