Looks like things are going to change. With Disney doing an event like Knott's. Are you looking forward to it? How much would you pay to eat in the park?
Not at all interested. It is mere coincidence that all of my visits to WDW have been during Food & Wino. It just happens that that's the one time out of the entire year when Central Florida is neither especially hot nor especially wet.
Well blow me down! We have tickets for April 2. I have always said that if the grandkids go; we will. My daughter wanted to do this for her kids birthdays. Her husband's health is failing and we fear this is as close as we may get to him actually going to Disneyland again. After a year of virtually no entertainment; I find myself looking forward to it.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, We're leaving tomorrow! It's only a daaaayyyyyyy Awaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our son in law has dialysis until 1PM so we are going to pick up the grandsons early so we can walk around DTD or whatever. The Park is only open from noon to 8PM so it will not be a real long day. The tickets were $75 but come with parking and a $25 gift card for food. So not too bad from a monetary standpoint. It will just be so good to get out and the Park seems to be taking extreme precautions. I do not think it will be all that risky. (I snuck into our Rewards dollars and put $50 on each of our cards for birthday presents for each other.)
Last night walking around DTD was weird to say the least. Quite crowded but still fun. I will add details later.
This trip actually turned out better than I had expected. Probably because it had been so long since we had been anywhere. The screenings were well done and compliance was close to 100%. Anyone not wearing a mask properly was promptly admonished but most people followed the rules. There was sometimes a lack of distancing in the shops but no worse that grocery shopping. Getting food was a bit of a hassle while we figured out how to navigate the system. Since everything had been done on our daughter's phone; we where at her mercy for our food. It was not as simple as it sounded online but we got the hang of it. I found I do not enjoy planning my food around a schedule. We ordered our lunch when we thought we would be hungry but we were still full from a huge *breakfast* (chili and macaroni and cheese cones in Radiator Springs.) Of course we spent too much money on silly souvenirs but it lifted our spirits I believe. (Do I really need a Porg that sits on my shoulder and squeals?!?) We were not at all pleased with the choice of background music. It was Disney music done by pop artists etc. I would have preferred originals. There were meet and greets with inanimate characters: As well as virtual photo ops: And distance sightings: We all agreed it was well worth the trip. (The possible exception was the 20yo who just ended a 4 year relationship. He did his best but you could tell that her absence was weighing on him.)
