I like the idea of a Sherman song, but the "Kiss Goodnight" concept is also dripping with that self-referential gooeyness that I just don't like from Disney

I'm also skeptical of how it seems to reinforce the need to view the show from a specific location. After all the headaches with Remember, I thought that's why they created the more park-wide Magical show. If the show really relies on being viewed from Main Street, I'll be curious to see how they work out crowd control, since this will be the first time DL has had a nighttime parade in nearly 2 decades

Paint the Night sounds like it will have some additions from HKDL, but will include all the same stuff too. I'm not sure how all the Pixar will play in DL, but it should be fun to see. They also described it as Mickey having Tinkerbell light up the night, but that storyline was nowhere to be seen in HK (though I'm not sure how much of a storyline a parade can have anyway). There was no mention of the show stop, but that doesn't mean it couldn't still appear

    >>I'm hoping for a new, original storyline.<<

I'd settle for any sort of storyline. My biggest problem with WOC is that there's no flow from one segment to the next, and no build in intensity throughout the course of the show. The ease with which they swap segments out really reflects how poorly constructed the entire thing is as a whole experience

One of the press releases I saw said that it would follow Mickey through various scenes, which seems like it would make for a stronger show. I'd still rather see an original character (Squirt?) or at least one that hasn't been used so heavily (this plot sounds suspiciously similar to Fantasmic! and Mickey and the Magic Map over in DL, among others), but I'm hopeful that it will be an improvement over what they've been running.

Little Squirt. Iger had him removed as he didn't want a story thread for the show. There is something ironic about the new version then!

Squirt provided the linkage and a bit of playfulness that was missing from the final show. I'm still very fond of WoC but the original plans - heck even up to the studio recording at Abbey Road - were better. The Alice sequences were phenomenal. Megan Brain is very talented and I just love her paper sculptures. Steven Davison is always willing and able to work with folks like her - he is a rare creative at the company that is prepared to play with others.

Several other locations throughout the park, I've read those will be the Matterhorn, Rivers of America, and Small World area. Nice and spread out all over. Which will be sooooo nice. You won't need to be right in front of the dang castle packed in like sardines!

I noticed that the concept art for the fireworks shows projections of bubbles on Main Street (similar to the drawn out bubble segment of WDW's Fantasmic!). Inside those bubbles are characters that look suspiciously similar to Megan Brain's only paper sculptures that made the final cut of WOC, appearing in the projection domes (that only work occasionally) during the Under the Sea segment

I don't know if it's a sign of things to come, but it immediately caught my attention!

I only have one concern for myself. I do have a trip planned this year, but it's in November. I wonder if I'm going to miss all of these things because we will get the Christmas parade and fireworks, not the 60th celebration ones. I assume that will be the case. That's a bummer. Gotta try to change these trip dates now...

Disney did not give an end date for the 60th anniversary events, but a spokesperson quipped, "it's going to be a loooong celebration." These types of marketing campaigns usually last 15-18 months, but it won't be a surprise if Disney keeps the party going two years or even longer, to bridge the gap until a major new attraction or addition is announced."

Disney said that the 60th will run through the holidays. For the 50th, they ran Parade of Dreams and Remember...Dreams Come True instead of the usual A Christmas Fantasy and Believe...in Holiday Magic, so you may not get the full Christmas entertainment line-up, but you should at least get to experience the 60th stuff

Wait, I thought it was the fireworks, not the parade...right? And isn't there a big inflatable projection globe thing that's used in the Halloween show? (not to mention the sorcerer Mickey from Sorcery in the Sky at MGM back in the day)

I wonder if they'll also have the inflatable props elsewhere in the park. It seems like it would be easy enough to do on the Fantasmic! stage, assuming they can just roll them out after the show; that would really help distribute crowds. It will also be interesting to see if there are other props used, or if it will just be for the one 'scene'

The videos of Paint the Night at Hong Kong don't really thrill me. The whole thing is exceptionally garish and I'm sure will be the loudest parade Disney has ever staged. I favor charm and whimsy over brashness. Sigh.

I am also concerned about the Main-Street-focused fireworks. There may be projections elsewhere, but past history strongly suggests "the" show will be on Main Street and everything else will be quite lacking and definitely second skimmings.

And PP1313: thank you for the hilarious crack up! You're insistence that this will be a Cinderalla celebration could not have been more wrong, but the diamond castle decor (which is just the 50th decor in diamond form) proves that you were right--they just changed their minds. So fantastically funny! Let me know when DCA's Trainsland opens . . . .

Probably because DCA isn't celebrating it's 60th Anniversary yet and given that they know that their audience is moderate to hardcore fans with this announcement, they'd know that they'd want to focus on Disneyland.

I doubt that SWland would be part of any 60th Anniversary event either . . .

Celebrate! A Street Party at DL and Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! (and it's recent replacement at MK) were pretty goshdarn loud, but I don't think anything will beat Block Party Bash for sheer volume. Yikes, that thing was loud!

Paint the Night strikes me more as being "noisy" with a lot of different competing things going on, regardless of the actual volume that the music is played at. I'm curious to see how it feels with the coziness of Main Street. I'm really curious to see how this (and the insane amounts of projections for the fireworks) will be able to blend the edgy tech-iness with the familiarity of the area

So why did they announce decorations for DCA's central icon and a big new nighttime spectacular for the park in conjunction with the 60th? I'm sure they have some sort of logical reason to not announce the Grizzly Airfield redo (probably to keep expectations in check for a project with a quick turnover), but it isn't because DCA is not celebrating the 60th
