Any chance for me? And what other movies have anniversaries this year? Will any get special treatment?

    Sleeping Beauty -- 50th
    Little Mermaid -- 20th
    Tarzan -- 10th (It's been only 10 years?)

I read on another site that a special edition of The Black Cauldron is coming, probably in April (though that's not for its anniversary). Maybe there's hope for a special edition Great Mouse Detective sometime soon.

I think I did hear somewhere that Tarzan was getting a special release. I doubt if The Little Mermaid will be out again since it was recently a platinum release.

This would be The Love Bug's 40th anniversary, so that's possible, I guess. It's also So Dear to My Heart's 60th anniversary, so maybe we'll see a general release for it, too. (I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did recognize its anniversary in literature I got from the Disney Movie Club). It would also be 20,000 Leagues' anniversary too, I think (55th) and The Black Hole's 30th, but I doubt if they'll rate new editions.

I've kinda given up on the company's keeping up with anniversaries. They seem to stretch the actual dates to fit their own timeline for DVD releases. Lady and the Tramp's 50th anniversary was a year late (okay 8 months); Pinocchio's 70th anniversary edition is a year early (not that I'm complaining about getting one). Sleeping Beauty's 50th anniversary edition was a little early but at least it was closer. Oliver & Company's anniversary edition is actually a little late. The Sword in the Stone's was right on time, though.

I was actually surprised they didn't do anything with Pete's Dragon two years ago (or The Rescuers, for that matter). And of course I'll bet we all wished that Song of the South would have seen an anniversary edition as well in 2006.

I'm guessing the bigger titles rate anniversary editions (even if they're not quite on the actual year) and the lesser titles may (or may not) get special editions later on.
