Mitt's been counting on all the "anti-Romneys" staying in as long as possible and splitting that vote. Cain's out, Bachmann's out now... Paul has his specialty niche, and Huntsman takes from the same basic demo as Romney. So if Perry drops, that would leave just Gingrich and Santorum fighting for that rather large slice of the GOP electorate, and that could spell trouble for Mitt in the south. Especially if one stumbles, and just one of them is left standing by Super Tuesday. It's still going to be Mitt, I think, in the end. The money guys want him, and money talks - especially in GOP politics. But he might have to fight longer than he figured. (Which was another prediction of mine, but I thought it would be Perry - because of HIS money - who would prolong it.)

But Marcus' dopey clinic is as good an example as any that truly wasteful government spending does exist.

I'd heard of her and heard her periodic wacky pronouncements for several years before she announced for President. I knew exactly who she was. But never saw her husband or knew anything about him. That changed this year, as she grew in visibility, especially after the Iowa Straw Poll. Then, all of a sudden, you couldn't turn on the TV or go on the internet without seeing Marcus. And I think these days even the religious right has gaydar finely tuned enough to figure THAT one out. And if they don't, the wisecracks were certainly flying. And I think they saw Ted Haggard and Larry Craig all over again, and did NOT want that happening IN the White House, which would sort of be the ultimate embarrassment for them. She was on an absolute upward trajectory... until Marcus started getting media attention. I actually think that's what started her inexorable slide, more than anything.
