This way, it gives Disney more wiggle room with legal claims, but is a slightly less tense moment for the ride. The music seems to just work when it works. To some extent, it depends on the train, but a lot of it is just the luck of the draw.

Space Mountain in Paris has some serious padding back there, they should replace all of the Screamin vehicles with more period appropriate cars and colors, with the classic red velvet seat covers.
