This way, it gives Disney more wiggle room with legal claims, but is a slightly less tense moment for the ride. The music seems to just work when it works. To some extent, it depends on the train, but a lot of it is just the luck of the draw.

I knind of like the staggered launches, but like many people I have had my head slammed against the head rests, and it really is not any more comfortable starting out with your head back. Space Mountain in Paris has some serious padding back there, they should replace all of the Screamin vehicles with more period appropriate cars and colors, with the classic red velvet seat covers.
