I hope that the new film maintains the integrity of the original. I never saw the original China film, but the current one just is a little too strange for me, with the disappearing Confucius. I also hope that they keep or reshoot the opening shot, because I think it was one of the most impressive (while still being fairly simple) movie tricks I have ever seen.

What's the movie trick you're referring to FerretAfros?

I think they turn and face you or something after they get to their spots, but I really like how they stretched one single screen into a full 360 surround. It isn't that technically challanging, but it just looks neat.

Originally Posted By Jim in Merced CA <I very vividly remember the firetruck ride through the city> Goofyernmost, I think that scene you're referring to was the old 'America The Beautiful' -- and they were riding on the back of a fire truck through Los Angeles. Or have I lost it?
Originally Posted By Goofyernmost Yup, I remember that as well but I think that it is like the 3D stuff. You know where they throw things toward the audience for the 3D effect? Well, that is what I remember from the Expo stuff. I would guess that every 360 movie made had at least one firetruck scene in it. It seems that during that fair they had just made a breakthrough with using multi-cameras and split screens. For us isolated country folk out here in Vermont it was pretty impressive. The other standard is in an airplane or helicopter.

The biggest line fans were sold about Star Tours and Body Wars style simulators was that they could be changed out 'every few years' for a new experience, yet not overly costly to TWDC. Anybody taken a StarSpeeder to anywhere other than Endor? Same thing with all these movies that folks at WDI like Goodman and Fitzgerald love so much. Nothing makes you feel like the 1990s are ancient history like seeing MuppetVision or Honey, I ... And to a see a film that depicts Canada as it was a quarter of a century ago at a park all about the future is a bit oxymoronic. Oh, and none of the 'Oh Canada' footage was from Expo 67 ... scenery may have been similar, but it was all new ... back when Reagan was in the White House.

Amazing how they never seem to learn from their mistakes.

The theatre revolved showcasing three films on different screens. You can read more about it here if you're interested... <a href="http://naid.sppsr.ucla.edu/expo67/map-docs/canada.htm" target="_blank">http://naid.sppsr.ucla.edu/exp o67/map-docs/canada.htm</a> Didn't Disney do a film of some sort for a World's Fair or Expo after the 1964/65 New York Fair? I'm not sure if it was a Circlevision film, but, I'm almost certain that they were involved with something. Vancouver 86 maybe? Anyone know more?

It may have been in Burnbaum's book, or somewhere else, but, supposedly some of the footage from this film was used in the Epcot Canada's film. Possibly they were mistaken, but, the coincidence of TWO Circlevision films by Disney on Canada is remarkable! <a href="http://naid.sppsr.ucla.edu/expo67/map-docs/telephone.htm" target="_blank">http://naid.sppsr.ucla.edu/exp o67/map-docs/telephone.htm</a> Spirit, perhaps you can clear this up for us?
