As fkurucz mentioned they are available on Expedia. Most if not all hotels divey up blocks of rooms amoung outside groups that sell them usually @ discounted rates. Expedia, hotwire, the airline industry sites, etc.

I'm sure even WDW travel company holds back a certain # of rooms for whatever reason. So even if their website say unavailable that doesn't mean there aren't unbooked rooms.

BTW unavailable hotel rooms that may have been booked as much as a year ago doesn't make the economic instabilities of late a rumor. It simply means folks planned a trip during better times.

I think what they are finding (with the extensive Merch discounts they have out right now..) is that people are still coming they are just spending less while here... Instead of spending 500 on souvenirs its now 100, instead of eating all sit down its now all quick service etc.

I hit DTD last week to get the holiday pins and actually saw a great deal of open parking spaces in the A lot (one closest to Once Upon) which is very rare..

I only wish it were a rumor. While a lot of folks have not really been effected, a larger number have. I'm just hoping we don't enter a prolonged period of deflation.
I really don't think I would want to be the one to tell the family "Hey that trip we planned all year for to WDW for Christmas is off. The question now is how well will bookings go for next Christmas.

Also I suggest you call Disney, and see what you can find open now.

I've also heard from an insider that Disney execs are holding back even larger blocks of rooms than normal as they try and gauge how certain offers and discounts are affecting bookings.

As I've said before if the computers show only 500 rooms at a 2,000 room resort and all of them are sold it doesn't mean the resort is sold out or at 100% occupancy ... all it means is 500 rooms have been put out into inventory and are booked.

as to the economy ... well, I recall saying back in June, prior to heading off to China, that we were in danger of entering a depression and was largely laughed off and told by some that we weren't even in a recession ... funny how often I hear the 'D' word these days ... and that is very depressing!

I just wrote a post that I think could have reduced my quest for a Masters degree in economics to a one year effort vs. a two. Unfortunately for the world I accidently bumped the wrong button. It is now floating around somewhere in cyberspace. If Grant Wood had spilled a glass of whiskey on American Gothic, and destroyed it, I'm sure he would not have tried to duplicate his masterpiece.
So my response to you Spirit is "LUCKY GUESS". :)

yep - as did I which is why I got out of Dodge stock wise early in the year in stable value --

I see a periodof deflation followed by rapid inflation and risinginterest rates which will just kill the people with credit card debt and HEL's with variable rates- - this is going to be very bad for along time folks.
