Character Autographs

    Does anyone know when getting autographs from the characters started. I have been going to Disneyland since I was born and up until fairly recently, guest's just had their pitures with the characters. Any one know when this phenom started?

    I have autographs from my first trip in 78 going all the way through to my last trip in 05. It was not a scheduled meet and greet place kind of thing, but you could approach them as they walked around and give them hugs and get autographs. I do remember that Pooh couldn't used to give autographs because the costume didn't have a thumb with which to hold a pen.
