No. First of all, it's not really $6.00 per month. You have to buy a one-day ticket, and then the remaining balance of the AP cost is spread out over 12 months. The limitations are that you must be a resident of Southern CA, and the AP is only good on 176 off-peak weekdays...so no holidays, weekends, or peak periods such as spring break or Christmas week.

Will the parks have higher attendance... YES, but so long as you avoid the Captain EO line, it shouldn't have any other impact.

The Michael Jackson Fans will be hanging out in Tomorrowland and gettting in line again AND again....

And while many of the Cheer/Dance competitions are held off-property, such as the Anaheim Convention Center, or the Hyatt Convention Center, when one is held ON property, it has a somewhat bigger impact.
