I’m planning a trip to see my grandparents in December and we will be making a trip to the parks. I went down this year after Christmas, on the 28th, 29th, 31st. I’ve been to the parks in the summer, but this was crazy. The parks were closed at certain points because they were at capacity. Is there a good time to go during December? Is the week before Christmas better?

The week prior to Christmas & New Year's, though, is THE busiest time at the parks. Up to bout the 21st or 22nd, though, you should have lower crowds and no park closings.

I have found the two weeks after Thanksgiving are slower. We were there just before Christmas in 2004 {left on the 23rd ?} and the crowds were not bad. The airport was a mess however.

We're POR regulars. The stay at Pop Century in February was an abberation. I like Pop, and I was excited to do something a little different this last trip, but once we got there I missed POR BAD!

Sorry about my assuming it was your first at POR. And they have a really good food court, and the butterfly garden. Girl I work with stayed twice at a trailer park near WDW, then after listening to me, she stayed on property, at All Star. Then her husband was going to go with her. With him paying, she wanted something higher priced, so I sold her on Dixie, they stayed at one of the mansions, and absolutely loved it. We've stayed there twice, but with my husband's motion sickness, the buses were killers.

One of my favorite features at POR is the boat ride to DTD. I'm also looking forward to checking out the newly remodeled food court.

We usually stay in one of the Alligator Bayou rooms. Two years ago we stayed in the Oak Manor building. It was beautiful, but I prefer the Alligator Bayou buildings.

I'm also looking forward to having breakfast at Boatwright's again. The Crescent City Toast and the Sweet Potato Pancakes are out of this world!!!!!

One morning we had breakfast at Boatwright's. I thought the waitress had left her cleaning stuff on the table, then realized it was part of the decor. Beautiful. After eating the pancakes which were delic, I waddled around all day. Huge servings.
We've only ever stayed at the Poly (the laid back relaxed me who loves to fall asleep watching the castle change color) and the snob in me really loved the looks of Partare Place. Whatever someone's taste, there is a Disney hotel just perfect for them. Next year we're staying at Wilderness Lodge, we've eaten there twice and liked the looks.

^^^ Yeah, the values changed their mugs sometime since October. Anyhow, it amazed me how many OLD Pop mugs and mugs from other resorts I saw. I frequently would mutter the word "thief" while passing these people.

How frickin' hard is it to shell out $13.30 for a mug? If you can't afford that, maybe you shouldn't be wasting money at Disney World.

I've got a question for those who've been to WDW during the Christmas season before: we're only going for three full days (can't keep my nephew out of school for too long) and I know it will be impossible to see the Candlelight Processional, Jingle Jungle Parade and all of the resort decorations, etc. What do you "seasoned veterans" recommend as a "must see"? We're definitely doing the MVMCP and seeing the Lights of Winter in Epcot. We're also going to make time for one full service meal. What do you all recommend that I should definitely take time to see? Our party will consist of me, my mom and my 7 year old nephew.

Also, my nephew's actual birthday will be the following weekend, and he's always wanted to celebrate at WDW. Can we stretch the truth a little and tell people it's his birthday so he can get a birthday button, etc. or do they ask for some sort of proof to verify it's his birthday?
