Scary stuff, but I know I can work with it.

ORGOCH: I'm surprised ol' Orwen don't have diabetes by now, considerin' all the dang donuts she eats all the time.

ORDDU: There are still a lot of good and tasty things diabetics can eat--like strawberries, blueberries, red raspberries and green apples. I know because of a good friend of ours who is also diabetic. Let us know how you are getting along, duckling. We care about you!!!

I also assumed it meant I was an old man and could only look forward to reruns of Matlock for the rest of my life. All I knew was it would change everything.

And it did. Skip ahead six months and subtract 70 pounds. I'm scared straight. I work out, I eat better if not wholly right and certainly in moderation, I ride a bike to minimize the damage from when I'm not paying attention. And I'm riding 32 miles in July wearing a red jersey because there's a lot of guys like me out there who just found out they're diabetic and they're scared and they think it means their life is over, and I am here to tell them it's just getting started."

I think that you have a good attitude, knowing you can work with it, and many times it's the 'knowing' that gets you back on track and paying attention to what our body is telling us. Good luck, I know you'll be successful and let us know how you're doing.

My A1C number has dramatically dropped, which is GREAT! So has my fasting blood sugar.

My doctor was amazed at how far they had dropped. The medicines are doing great, and my diet and exercise have really helped.

My blood sugar is pretty much under control, now the goal is to keep it in a good spot and slowly wean away from the meds.
