We were going to use the carousel because it fit our western-style uniforms (our high school's mascot was the Cowboy), but there was no way to put 26 girls on the horses and have all of us in one photo. Still turned out great, though. My town has changed a LOT! And so has my favorite life-long vacation destination! It's been a awhile since I've thought about/evisioned in my mind how different Fantasyland was in those days. WOW! Definitely the biggest change in the park.

The Fantasyland Theater is where Pinnochio is though they added more building for it and the Village House. That thin that looks like a carousel was a food stand. You can see Dumbo is right in front of it. This photo was taken from the Skyway, I assume.

The teacups used to be where King Arthur now sits (it originally sat between Peter Pan and Snow White and was 50 feet closer to the castle), and the Dumbo was where the Village Haus now sort of sits -- the new 1983 Fantasyland was a BIG improvement over the old one. It used to get really crowded and the new design made it a "little" easier to navigate through the land and now looks like a fairy tale. I do miss Captain Hook's though...they had good food and seating next to the waterfall.

There were two in FaL at that time that looked very similar - the other was near between Mr. Toad and Alice roughly where the Mad Tea Party is today. Notice that FaL ends in the back part of this picture - no Big Thunder Trail, and no way to walk between FaL and FrL.
