Disneyland Expansion?

Well this just happen.

There are images of a new expansion to the west side alongside the hotel and Toy Story Lot.

Here is where the information came from. Took me a moment to track it down.

I checked out the website, and I think there are some interesting additions that could come down the pike in time. I would love to know what they are thinking of in regards to timelines.

 

Whoa. Ambitious!

Looks like they're hoping to add to DL proper with a tunnel (?) under DL Drive to connect to the area just north of the DLH. And to add to DCA by doing the same thing to the area south of the DLH.

That probably makes more sense than trying to build a third park. I'd like to see what they were thinking in terms of timelines too.

It occurs to me that they could have direct entrances from the DLH and PPH, perhaps just for hotel guests (and perhaps just for the first x-number of years the additions were open) as a further perk for staying on site and paying those prices.

I'm less crazy about the fact that all the ideas for expansion seem to be based on IP - I'd MUCH prefer lands more broadly based like the original DL lands or maybe something like "Silicon Valley" or "High Sierras" for the DCA expansion - but I guess IP is where we live now.

 

I would love to see some expansions. I have seen a lot of these *projections* over the years so I have a real wait and see attitude.

(I read *timelines* as timeliness and was concerned about that as well.)

 

I read some more about it, and it seems like NOTHING is set in stone in terms of what they'd actually add - they're giving Frozen, Zootopia, etc. as examples of what they're planning for other worldwide parks that MIGHT come to Anaheim as well. Because the audience for this whole thing is really the city of Anaheim, not the public (except to the extent that the public could tell Anaheim officials "yes, let them change the zoning.")

This is really a slickly designed proposal to Anaheim to say "We want to expand, but the current zoning no longer makes sense and segregates hotels, attractions, parking, retail, and dining too much. Some of that might be integrated. Here's what we're thinking of..."

 

I would agree that this is all about the Zoning laws. The website is pure hype to make you not notice that there is no real information here.

 

Talking very verbosely while actually saying nothing has become a highly developed art form, these days.

 

I agree. Whoever wrote the website text was a master of their craft.
