The show comes across far more contrived and scripted than I had imagined - from the lighting to the camera angles, and even to the positioning of the cast members. I gave it my best but the show (at least the episode I caught) was so uninteresting and dull I ended up continuing to surf. The best I can give this whole thing is a shoulder shrug.

You must shop at much finer establishments than I do, lol.

Well, I thought that went without saying. That's why they want people to rally around him. It's all about merch sales at this point, really.

We about got our eyes stuck in the backs of our heads on that one.

He still made me push two buttons while he pushed the other two so all four of them sang together at once. lol

    The consensus seems to be

Alec Baldwin: Good actor who was immediately terminated from his position at MSNBC upon using gay slurs after losing his temper with a paparazzi.

Phil Robertson: Guy who deliberately changed his appearance and manner to act like a dumb redneck hick in an attempt to appeal to actual dumb, redneck hicks, and, either sincerely or as part of his shtick, says totally ignorant things about gays and subsequently has paranoid, ignorant white conservatives flock to his side.

And let's not forget his comments about the "happy, singing" black folks back before civil rights ruined everything.

To his white conservative flock, that's a major plus too.

Donny can speak for himself (if he chooses to show up again), but I do see this as a common pattern among conservatives. They live in the bubble, watching Fox, listening to Hannity and Glenn Beck on the radio, and they hear all this stuff that makes so much "sense!" I have no doubt the Baldwin comparison has been bandied about by conservative commentators, and their listeners eat it up thinking, "Yeah, libs, what about that, huh!?!" They think that liberals are just as hypocritical, just as mindless as they are when it comes to defending the indefensible. Then, when they actually talk to a liberal, the reality is completely different than what they expected.

Liberals can be guilty of this too, they have a bubble they can retreat to as well, but it's not nearly as insular, all-encompassing, and pervasive. (I know, I'm supposed to say both sides are exactly the same, but...yeah...they aren't.)
