Disney has certainly made mistakes of their own (people have died as result of accidents on several attractions in different parks), but they still operate their own parks. From what I can tell, this is just a one time thing. Sure, it's very unfortuante, but I don't really think it's reflective on the OLC as a whole. How many shows and parades do they have every day, all year long? And how many of them have injured guests? Not many.

As grusome as that is, it did happen in Disneyland about ten years ago, but that park is still going strong. From the sounds of it, nobody was badly injured (if anybody was injured at all), so I don't think much will be made of it. Sure, it probably scared the you know what out of the people sitting there, but it was just an accident. Accidents happen. I would venture to guess that it's still safer to spend the day at TDL (parades included) than sitting at home watching TV all day.

From the sounds of it, nobody was injured, so it's actually one of the better accidents to have. While I don't think we should encourage this by any stretch of the imagination, there is really no way we can expect them to be prefect. From my general experince with TDR (which is admittedly not that much), they do generally do a lot more to take care of general maintenence. I don't know how parades are maintained in any of the parks, but it seems to me that TDL rotates them enough that they probably don't need that much help during their stay (but I think this float has been around for a while). Is it bad that this happened? Yes. Is it horrible? Not really. I'm just trying to keep everything in perspective.

My biggest concern is that we need to treat this like a big issue and shame the OLC in hope that this was just an honest mistake made by human error and not a sign of things to come. The fact this has come a week after the tree house fire makes me worried.

Are the Japanese parks as busy as the American parks are this time of year (just about at capacity every single day)? I don't know if that would affect it any, but it might. Also, anybody know how to get the video to work?

It sounds like you have a much larger issue that for some reason you don't want to fully identify and only discuss on the periphery, and are using this incident as a tool to do so.
Originally Posted By Malin No I'm upset about the unit that fell and it weighing 660 lbs, you happen to post something else before I could reply. I do however aplaud them for allowing the show to go on and if you re read my YouTube post again you will see that I made mention to the fantastic job both the performers and Castmembers did. I do hold issues over OLC for letting something like this happen in the first place but thats about it. I don't have any bigger issues with them or I wouldn't have a problem discussing them on here. I'm just not going to skip around acting like the OLC are wonderful when the comapny can let something like this happen on its watch. I'm seeing a lot of people playing the situation down here but I wonder if this incident were to happen at the Magic Kingdom if we'd get quite the same responsed here.

You seem to be the only one all hyped up and worried about a rare albeit rather serious malfunction. That's not enough to accuse the OLC of neglect and carelessness in my opinion.
