It was frustrating, because I still ended up wasting an hour (if not more) to get a good seat for Fantasmic (that was why I was willing to pay for the balcony seats - to save time and ensure a good seat).

Does anyone know if the seat assignment situation has been changed?

    I like that one, Deb.

The way I learned it was that the desert is sand and strawberry shortcake is dessert. One 's' word versus two.

It's been a couple of years since we've done the F! seating, Ella. At that time, you had to wait in line in the early evening to 'check-in' (7-ish sounds about right) and choose your seat assignment. Then, return for the show and wait to be seated. So, essentially waiting in line twice for your seating. It does seem there should be a better way.

If there are other people in that party, they are assigned seats 2, 3, 4 and so on. The seats are assigned in order of where you are in the check-in line. We were the second party in line, and we received seats 3 and 4. They were excellent seats. They were better than the seats I previously had in the balcony. The wait went by quickly because the cast members who were working Fantasmic! were telling us some interesting stories about working at Disneyland. After checking in and receiving seating assignments, we were free to roam around for about 30 minutes. The goodies are given to you when you are seated and they are prepacked in a container. The drinks are served to you by the cast members. If you have a reservation and you don't mind where your seats are, you can walk up close to showtime and be seated in the remaining seats. It was worth the wait for us.

Right now, nothing has been scheduled for April. Check back in a week or two. I'm sure it will be showing.

Waiting an hour for the seat assignment was dreadful and then the view wasn't good at all - even though I got front row seats. We were as close to the center as possible but still not near the central location we are used to when camping out on the pavement. We were looking at the mist screens at an angle through trees and it just didn't work very well.

The dessert itself was good enough though. Chocolate dipped strawberries, truffles, grapes, cookies, etc. If they were serving glasses of port that aspect would've been nearly perfect. However, it did get a bit awkward when trying to hold your box o' goodness while gripping your drink. A lot of folks set their drinks on the ground only to have them kicked over by excited guests.

Anyway, I won't be doing it again until they can assign seats ahead of time (without the check-in) and move to a more central location.

It has always been very sweet, loaded with carbs and sugar, items. To top it off - the drinks have been sugar laden as well. How about plain Iced Tea? Iced Coffee? Ginger Lemonade? Arnold Palmers?

The last two events I went to - I tasted an item (a couple bites to see the quality) and walked past the rest for the ever-expanding American guest.

How nice to see in this thread that someone mentioned getting cheese and crackers. How about cheese, crackers and a cut up apple? I loved the granny smith apple and caramel that you used to get by Ariel's carousel (you could control how much you wanted with each slice).

I have had a good time with friends and family picking up a sourdough loaf of bread and real butter in DCA and having that with a glass of wine to see the Electrical Parade. (Though, I have been told that area is "sold" now as a premium viewing area).

Plus, OMG the way those people go for the items, I fear I may pull back a stump if I leave my hand on or near the tray for too long.

Do they still serve that half mound of chocolate mousse with a raspberry on top? When they put that in front of me at Club 33, I turned to the waitress and asked her "Shouldn't this be served in pairs?"
