Epcot is my personal preference, you don't feel the crowds as much, and they have lots of special activites throughout the park.

As of New Year's Day, all the displays go back to normal. MK has Wishes, Epcot has Illuminations & Studios has Fantasmic.

Here is a tip the MK will preview its New Years Eve fireworks the night before. So a guest can go to the MK the night before and see there fireworks show for New Years Eve Then on New Years Eve go to Epcot and view theres. Also another thing to keep in mind the MK has no alcohol and Epcot does.

Epcot has more dining options, over 25, (of which many are table service) vs Magic Kingdom's 14 (of which just 4 are table service), and even opens up additional venues to help crowd flow. Several of the countries, as well as Future World, have individually themed dance clubs (China-fire & dragons, Italy-bubbles, Morrocco-techno, Future World-Pop & Top 20, etc ), and World Showplace is opened as a 20's-30's Jazzish nightclub. That space is huge, and a lot of people end up just passing by, so it's a great break if you want to get off your feet for a while. Even if your not going to be dancing (heaven knows I don't) it's fun to walk around and take in the atmosphere of it all.

Hope this helps in the decision process.

Probably because they just used the old FITS soundtrack with a special NYE finale. The 360 degree fireworks are always awesome though, but overall, I wasn't overally ecstatic over it.

Epcot is always a winner. I've spent quite a few NYE there. The atmosphere, space, and the number of clubs/dance parties they have throughout WS and FW are unmatched at the other parks. The NYE finale with a salute to each country that has already celebrated the new year before us (with special fireworks from behind each specific country as they are honored) coupled with Epcot's traditional "blow your socks off" finale, is great.

I spent NYE at MGM last year and honestly had one of the best times. It felt more crowded than Epcot because of the park's size, but it didn't seem unbearable. The DJ/concert stage in front of the Sorceror's hat creates a great "rockin'" atmosphere and I really enjoyed the fireworks there. Because of MGM's theme, they used more modern pop and rock songs from various films and movies. Its always a treat to see fireworks at MGM, complete last year with shells shot off from the buildings down Hollywood Blvd that literally surrounded you with fireworks. Too bad they don't do a nightly show there anymore.

I agree. And get the best spot possible that affords views of most of the pavillions arouds World Showcase because the show will envelope the entire lagoon and end up with a loud 20 second BANG!!!!!

While the MK's fireworks are OK, being perimeter and such, I much prefer the 4th of July display to that of the New Year Eve at the MK. It's miserable to exit that park so late when another million guests are trying to do the same and they are cramped into those little monos and the ferry boats. It'll be 2am at the earliest by the time you arrive at your car in the doopie section of the parking lot.
