I'm listening to a radio morning show down here in San Diego discussing "A very popular Southern California amusement park" that was able to secure H1N1 vaccine for all of the employees that wanted it. Apparently there is some pediatrician that is outraged by this.

Frankly, I'm all for it since employees at this "very popular Southern California amusement park", who I suspect are commonly known as Cast Members, are exposed to thousands of visitors from around the world on a daily basis, and many of those visitors are not going to let mild symptoms keep them from enjoying what could be an expensive vacation.

If this is true, then I would like to say "Good Job" to the management of this "very popular Southern California amusement park."

I'm not getting one - but I'm 51, which means I was here when the Swine Flu came around twice before (never caught it). Guess there's some built-in immunity due to that fact. Got my regular flu shot, though.

Seems pretty socialized to me. If this was run following the true American system, we scare the hell out of people with color coded flu warning levels reported on the news daily which never go below orange and then when people are properly scared, we deliver the vaccines to Kaiser and let them decide what to charge for the vaccine and who to give it to and then use the fact that people came in to get the vaccine to deny them any further health coverage

That makes a whole lot more sense than Goldman Sachs employees being promised the vaccine. Not only will this protect the cast members, but also the guests. And seeing the immense number of people flooding in and out of the theme parks should be reason enough to prevent a bit of the disease sharing.

Disneyland just installed hand sanitizers in dozens of locations around the Resort this past week. I don't see Knott's or Six Flags or Sea World, or even the local mall, going to that expense for their customers.

Good for Disney for taking care of their employees. There's plenty of vaccine in the pipeline for everybody who wants it, and that whack job pediatrician needs to stop calling in to talk radio shows and focus on his practice more. Ridiculous behavior like that only would lead to unwarranted concern and panic. Shame on him!

@TP2000. This was just a news story on the Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw morning show and it quoted some pediatrician that was complaining about it, he/she didn't call in.

You mean to tell me they didn't just pick it off the vaccine tree??? The vaccines are being provided by the counties through government funding.

The only reason I could see doctors complaining about this would be less people getting sick mean less co-payments and money for prescriptions for their offices.

My brother works at a hospital and they gave him the vaccination for free. To be honest, he probably comes into less contact with people then say, a Jungle Cruise CM who has to touch each guest as they help them into a boat. I think it makes perfect sense.

see someone at disneyland is thinking with there head! that is awesome that thew cast members got the shot for free, it just seems right since umm yeah they are around all walks of life! and im 30 and i doubt i will get the shot, i have had some pretty bad flues in the past and i came out of them alive,

That pediatrician or doctor, should shut his pie hole. He should be happy that a certain park gave it’s employees or cast member the shot for H1N1, cause who knows, if they hadn’t gotten the shot and then he took his kids to that park and they(his kids) got H1N1 from a CM that had gotten it from someone else—then that would be tragic.

Really? Because he doesn't agree with you, or apparently the majority of LPers posting in this topic, today? I've read a LOT about H1N1 and believe it's a trumped-up bunch of nonsense, with the CDC making outrageous claims, and Big Pharma raking in the dough. Can I say that here, or should I shut my pie hole?

Don't shut that pie hole LuLu, but do try to get the facts right. Someone I know died last month as a direct result of an H1N1 infection. It is not to be taken lightly, especially by at risk populations like expectant mothers, who are particularly vulnerable to some of the symptoms.

I would ask that everyone get their facts straight. There is lots of information out there on both sides of the vaccine controversy. Look at it all and make your own informed decision.
No flu shots for me.

The shot is a dead virus. It won't get you sick. Plus the H1N1 vaccine is manufactured the same way the seasonal vaccine is only with a different strain. It goes thru the same testing that seasonal flu vaccine goes through.

Try reading the article again..so that is why I said the doctor dude needs to shut his mouth, I think it was good of Disney to give there employees the shot. They are around all walks of life everyday, including babies..
