So with an 8 PM closing, as is normal in May (off-season), you can have the extra hour of shopping, and let folks stay until 9 PM. But in June, when Disney starts to expand its park hours, they will keep the park open until 9 PM, but not offer the Shopping, so they can get the guests out, and let the cleaning crew, plus the set up team for the special Grad Nite venues have some time before they let the Grads into the park.
