There was talk about two years ago that WDI was looking at recreating a Mine Train Through Natures Wonderland attraction in and around Grizzly River Run. They even put up some plywood cutouts around the mountain where the animatronics would/will go when they update the raft ride eventually.

But I haven't heard a thing about that since. It may have proven to be unworkable with the existing mountain structure, and/or it was put on the back burner as a possible yet very expensive option for Phase 2 or Phase 3 of the DCA makeover possibly coming later this decade.

I think the Mine Train news out of WDW just got recycled into those old rumors from '08 and '09, and the reality of the original rumor got mixed up in the translation.

Amen to that. If they do return, the bears will need some TLC...Perhaps even complete makeovers.

As for the train rumors...I'll pass on a mine train around Grizzly Peak. (yawn) Dopey's Mine Coaster in the new DCA? That might be cool but it doesn't seem to fit. Then again, it's a mis-matched park already.

There actually is a grizzly bear themed coaster/mine train attraction being built at HKDL that would be a very cool addition to DCA. The complete storyline with concept art is described here:

With the similarities to Big Thunder right over in DL I doubt if they'd ever seriously consider this attraction for DCA.

It would be nice if they could incorporate some of the animatronics being design for that ride into DCA.

The thought has crossed my mind ever since I heard about the HKDL coaster that maybe they could adapt it to DCA. It would certainly fit in the Grizzly/Redwood Creek area themewise very well. Recently, I went walking through the Redwood Creek area to scope it out and noted that a good part of the West side, I guess it would be, of the Redwood Creek area is right next to the new expansion to the Grand. So, I don't know if putting a roller coaster there would be practical because the screaming of riders would surely be disturbing to hotel guests. Perhaps an adaptation of the Snow White coaster to a CA gold mine theme could work because much of it is indoors. It would be a shame to lose that play area for kids, though. (Although, I know space for attractions is at a premium in the park.) When I was walking around that day, it was just full of kids running around playing and burning off energy.

Exactly. They have land-locked themselves by expanding the Grand Cali. I don't see it happening.

The Country Bear Playhouse, on the other hand, might fit nicely just west of Soarin (across the walkway where the airplane is). It would be a nice place to cool off and wait for the return time on your Soarin' FP.

BTW, I am not advocating for the original show. They would need to completely revamp it. The concept, though, is still a winner.

Personally, I think Disney should avoid wasting valuable park space on anything that is designed to appeal only towards children. A space where parents have to watch their children having fun is almost the antithesis of what Walt Disney was trying to do with Disneyland.

I say bulldoze it and build a family E-ticket that can be enjoyed by all members of the family - from children to grandparents.

What if they changed the name of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree to Spin because they havent decided yet if they want to put it in DCA yet! just a thought...

anyways, I think I saw the show once when i was 4, but then it closed before i ever saw it again...

When it opened at Disneyland in 1972, it was amazing. The Animatronics were state-of-the-art, and I'd never seen anything like it.

Well there was plenty of room, until they decided to build a 12-acre expansion that only included 2 rides in that space (and a third within the existing park). Funny how they managed to take a ton of land for future expansion, and basically box themselves in. And from what I can tell, unlike what they managed to do at DL, it's going to be pretty tough to try and squeeze more in. Yah, there are plenty of 'dead' spots, but none with enough nearby backstage space that they can really do much (with the possible exception of the former Maliboomer location). But they claim that Carsland will be great, despite the poor planning and poorly chosen name.

It was the Tiki Room with a country bear theme and it was every bit as corny. If you want to see it I believe it's still running at WDW and TDL.
