Of course it carries all the web design taboos of the years (animated gifs, annoying background making text hard to see, scattered layouts, music playing in the background, guestbooks, hit counters...etc). It has a blog feature as well as some others.

The downside is that it carries all the bad of the internet. Hate groups use it, perverts use it, gangs have their own sites and I think they even found one for NAMBLA. The other thing is that it goes mostly unchecked. They have found whole sites dedicated to murdering someone. (some 8 year olds set up a site to get others to agree to murder their teacher and other administrators at their school).

Now not everyone on their is bad as there are several LP users on their, but the fact that anyone can register and post anything without reprisal or compromise it leaves alot in the open.

Now of course those bad things can happen just about anywhere but like here on LP, they are kept in check with admins and not being able to post anything (Cant just add pictures to the posts, etc). on Myspace there are like 4 or 5 people that are paid to just check sites so of the millions using it. Its the equivelant of having 1 admin here on LP but they only work from 1am to 1:30am and thats it. Not enough time or manpower to get the job done.

Basically for adults, hey have at it, I personally dont find it interesting. But for kids its a bad thing, very bad thing. And they dont have any checks in place that are easy to implement like COPPA. Which requires a parent to sign a form (real not digital) with personal information that holds the parent responsible for the things their kids do. Also they need to add more administrators and make it tougher to set up a site.
