The lead article I saw was on ABC News (link below) but I know that the PrezHilton.com site has been particularly active in this field:

I had missed the "news" of Neil Patrick Hariss coming out but I really can't see why anyone would see the need to do this.

    Thoughts?

it happens here on LP with Disney related stuff all the time. Being the one to know the ride closures first, new rides, new executives (stock holders are exempt from this one).

Its a horse of a different color and as long as there are people to crave this kind of "news" there will be people providing it.

I don't care for Perez at all. The only reason I'm familiar with him is because I belong to the "Oh No They Didn't" community on Livejournal, a blog devoted to celebrity gossip, and his stuff shows up there from time to time. He just seems to be so snarky (and not in a good way) and so mean. I know celebrity gossip can often go to the mean, but Perez seems to have the lock on it. I also don't care for him because he seems to think that he's a celeb himself when he's just riding on the coattails of others (and they're often not that worthy, either, i.e. Paris Hilton).

    3) As far as Doogie goes, did you SEE "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle?" The man is way too cool NOT to be homosexual! ;)

99% of the things I have seen on his blog end up in the same trashy gossip magazines I read anyway, I just find out faster. Perhaps he's to blame for some of these stories, I'm not sure. Sometimes he does cross the line, but most of the time I find the humor in it.

While I think it's wrong that tabloids are outing people to a large insatiable audience, it's also becoming seemingly fashionable or cool for some B-list male celebrities to announce their homosexuality to the world. Lance Bass was no longer popular and was no longer in the news (with exception to a few indies he was reported filming with Joey Fatone). Lance did not need to make a big, public announcement to the world about his sexuality as it was unnecessary information based on his lackluster status in Hollywood. Lance's plan to pay millions to blast off in outerspace was far more entertaining than finding out who he's sleeping with.

Kinda like "Bulldog" (I don't know the actor's name) on "Frasier", not to mention David Hyde Pierce's Niles Crane pining after Daphne all that time.

On the one hand, I don't think anyone should be outed against their will. On the other hand, the price of celebrity and fame is that people get into all of your business, every aspect of your business, stuff that shouldn't make a difference one way or another, but their job is create a story.

It's kinda interesting how the press now tries to expose everything they can, when a long time ago, the press was in on protecting the stars. I can't remember when and why that changed. Maybe a happy medium would be nice.

Why is it interesting to the so called readers?

The saddest part of this is that there is no privacy anymore, if you are a celebrity you are public property and these gossisp hunters make sure of that!

I keep up to date with celeb news but I don't like seeing someone who's not ready to discuss their private life being forced to defend themselves or their sexuality, as this is blackmail.
Come out or we will out you!

    It's just wrong!

The ones that bother me are the ones that use the publicity to its fullest extent and then claim invasion of privacy. Britney Spears wanted to know why the press won't leave her alone. Maybe it's because you flaunt yourself to the press whenever you can. Lindsay Lohan apparently recently complained about her party-girl image. Gee, can't imagine where that came from.
