I'll just put this here. It's a dang good movie too. Pixar will have to go some to top it - in every respect.

This is Pixar's movie I'm looking forward the most. It's an original and it has an interesting premise.

The storyline in that article sounds pretty similar to Footloose. Not that "group in power does like music, has change of heart thanks to spunky kid" can't make a good movie, but it doesn't feel terribly original. Considering how hush-hush they've been on the details of this, I was expecting more

I hope the cultural aspects bring some new elements to the film. It has the potential to be really good, but this latest news is somewhat underwhelming

Had absolutely no knowledge of 'Book of Life' -- thought it was a new release. :-/

At the center of Pixar’s next original film, Coco, is a 12-year-old boy who’s breaking all the rules — or at least his family’s.

Miguel, voiced by newcomer Anthony Gonzalez, is a member of the shoemaking Riveras, your average Mexican family that’s completely banned music for generations. So, maybe not so average. Ever since his great-great-grandmother Imelda was left alone by her husband (who abandoned his family to pursue a life hitting high notes), there’s been a strict no-music ban in the Rivera household, upheld primarily by Miguel’s Abuela (Renee Victor).

I'm such a sap, but I really liked that Mother's Day montage.

    The official trailer.

    This movie looks really promising.

So the plot is basically Monsters, Inc. from Boo's perspective (with family stuff mixed in)? Given the positive rumors we've had about this for so many years, I'm unimpressed. It could still wind up being a very good film (plenty of good films recycle old stories), but it doesn't seem nearly as new and exciting as they'd made it out to be

I hate to say it, but that movie looks really ... inferior. In every respect:

It looks like they remade Book of Life and removed the cool styling and put in the standard Pixar character look with a touch of Corpse Bride.

    That's good.

I had very low expectations for Book of Life, but I loved it. As others have said, Coco seems very unoriginal at this point. I have confidence it will be good, but it needs to bring more than the trailers show for me at present.

What would showtunes be these days without that first inversion I chord? (13 seconds in.)

Have you ever heard "The Song That Goes Like This" from Spamalot? "And now we change the keeee-eeeeey."
