I have read glowing reviews of this place, then some downright scary ones- I can't believe that the reviews are written about the same hotel actually. Has anyone here stayed there- what did you guys think? Thanks Skell

We're really counting on that "kids eat free" discount there! We checked their menu on line and it looked okay. Was there anything in particular that wasn't good- or was it the service as well?

The other "property" resorts (Disney or otherwise) at which I have stayed in Orlando are the Coronado Springs, the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Contemporary Resort. Speaking of just the hotel experience alone, I would tend to rank the Portofino more highly than any of the three on-property Disney hotels described above. The room was very, very nice, and I have nothing bad, whatsoever, to say about the experience. As I recall, being a guest at the Portofino also provided certain Fast-Pass-like (although Universal has a different name for it) amenities, which were also quite appreciated. The Portofino was not cheap, but I really enjoyed the experience of staying there.
